Book Blogger Hop: 8/3-8/9

This week's question...
When a book goes “viral” (Hunger Games, Fifty Shades, Twilight), do you rush out to read it like everyone else, even if it’s not in your typical genre?
My answer...
No. I don't rush out to get the hyped up books immediately. If I hear from someone I know, who I trust and insists I read it, I will but not as a rule of thumb. In fact, I haven't read Hunger Games yet. I only read the first Fifty Shades (because a friend loved it) and only the first two Twilight books (because they were recommended to me). So far, I haven't been bowled over by anything I've read.

Thank you for stopping by and visiting my blog! I always love reading comments and getting to know my readers!
After some careful consideration, I've decided to become an award-free blog. Although I appreciate and am honored by each and every award I've received, your comments and friendship are enough award for me. Thank you all so much for your thoughtfulness.

I liked Hunger Games (but read it before the hype)... never wanted to read Twilight, especially after the hype!
ReplyDeleteIt definitely depends on the title & what I see when I troll reviews to determine whether or not I will read a viral book.
My Hop
For me, it just depends. There are some books I'll never read, no matter how much hype they get (FIFTY SHADES). Generally, though, if a book sounds interesting, I'll read it. If not, I won't. Simple as that.
ReplyDeleteHappy Hopping!
I don't rush off to read a hyped up book either. They do catch my eye but if it doesn't sound good I won't go for it.
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday!
I read The Hunger Games and Twilight before all the hype. Neither were my particular genre, but I enjoyed them. I'm more of a Harry Potter person though :) Great answer!
ReplyDeleteCheck out my post.
I did give in to Hunger Games but more because I wanted to try Dystopian again, it confirmed the genre is not for me. I'm a mood reader so it doesn't matter about hype overall.
ReplyDeleteA lot of people on the hop have the same answer, and I'm no different. I don't do the hype :)

I do try to stay away from the hype and read as many reviews as I can first
