What looked like an opportunity to work with her friend Grace and make some serious bucks has turned into a deadly game, one that could destroy their friendship and tear their town apart. Why couldn't Jamie just leave well enough alone?

My Review

Family attorney, Jamie Quinn, has quite a bit going on in her life at the moment. She’s trying to help her father get his visa, her boyfriend accepted a job in Australia and she reluctantly agrees to accept a high-profile divorce case. Her best friend Grace, another attorney, is all set to work with Jamie on this one, but their friendship hits a snag and they are barely speaking to each other. Suddenly Jamie’s life and her career is on the line and the one person she wants to be with is thousands of miles away.

Jamie pulls it together and does some investigating on her own. She quickly discovers the divorce case is much more dangerous than she thought, but she has no intention of backing off.

I’ve listened to the previous books in this series on audio, but this time I read it on my e-reader. I enjoyed the audio versions, but I was even more caught up in reading the words, although I kept hearing the narrator's voice in my head as I read. The narrator always does such a magnificent job of becoming the characters.

Reading the book is a different experience which I enjoyed even more. Jamie is a strong character and she’s surrounded by strong characters. One of my favorites is P.I. Duke Broussard. He’s funny, colorful and proves to be more than a colleague but a good friend as well.

It’s a fast-paced story. I wasn’t too surprised by the outcome, but I was tossing around a couple of different suspects. Overall, a solid entry in the Jamie Quinn story and I’m hoping this series continues. Definitely my favorite in the series so far.
