The Weekend Review - October 31st - November 2nd

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now being hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to  Stacking The Shelves which is hosted by Team Tynga's Reviews.

Hi Everyone!  Happy Weekend!

Well, that was fast...October is already over.  It's been raining most of the week here with a couple of nice days thrown in the middle. All this election stuff in the US is driving me crazy this week and next week will just be worse, I'm sure.  I try not to watch the news too much but I seem addicted to it.

Even with watching all the news this week, I managed to finish three books and enjoyed all of them.  If nothing else, my books provide an escape from all the craziness of real life.  I do appreciate that.

This Is Us started this week.  It was good but reminded me too much of real life.  Still, good drama.  More shows will be coming back in November.

Kitty Cookie continues having asthma problems.  She got another shot and I have more meds to give her.

That about sums up my week.  What was yours like?  Anything good going on?  I hope everyone has a great week.

  1. Politics is getting to almost be too much, I agree. I follow it and then wish I hadn't lol. But hopefully we'll get some closure this week? We can hope.

Love the look of the Emma Rous book.

  2. Reading is a great distraction. Thanks for all the reviews . One book a week is all my eyes can manage, otherwise they give me issues. This will be an interesting week!

  3. I early-voted on the first day I could, even though I had to put on a mask and go into a small room at our library, and I've encouraged everyone I know to vote after that. It's such a turbulent time.

Books have provided me with escape, too. I'm looking forward to reading some fun nonfiction during November, including a book about the best of classical music. Doesn't that sound soothing?!

  4. I am also anxious about the upcoming week...and turning to books for distraction. I am curious about Vexed by Vodka...the idea of vodka is calling to me, since I haven't had a real cocktail since...February? Wine is good, though.

I love This Is Us, and while it was kind of good that they used the Pandemic in the story, it definitely didn't provide an escape!

Enjoy your week, and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

  5. I really can’t do drama at the moment, I’ve been watching UK shows Grantchester which has been a great surprise, and All Creatures Great and Small.

Wishing you a great reading week, your next cozy looks like a fun book

  7. i am in the us, florida to be precise. i am not watching much, if any election stuff. i voted as soon as i received my mail in ballot. i have my fingers crossed. we need a change in leadership, if what you call happening now is leading. i hope we have seen the last of hurricanes this year, though we have one more month to make it through. right now, the sun is shining and i'm good with that

  10. I'm avoiding the outside world as much as possible right now. And I'm trying to read or watch non-drama-y TV a lot. I love the look of This is Us but I'm not sure I could handle it right now! I'm sorry to hear about Cookie. I hope this week is better for her.

  11. Vexed by Vodka looks like a fun read. It's been raining here a lot, we had a sunny day yesterday and made me so happy. Rain again today. All the best for the elections, we have a couple of NZ reporters over there to report back to us and of course I keep an eye on CNN as well.

  12. We can't seem to turn off the news either. UGH. We'll see how the rest of the week goes. Lots of good mysteries here!

  13. I voted at the end of September by absentee ballot. I was already tired of election news then. Now I'm more than tired of it. Even with election day tomorrow, we still have some time before we can settle in and not think about politics for a while. Reading has been my great escape. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  14. I am forcing myself to only check the news first thing in the morning and right before I go to bed. So much anger and sadness that I don't want to think about.

Great books this week. Some of those murder mysteries are right up my alley.

Hope you have a nice week.
