First Chapter, First Paragraph, Tuesday Intros - July 25th

It's Tuesday!  It's time to share your excerpts and teasers from books we are currently reading, have read or are planning to read.  So, feel free to join us by sharing the first paragraph or (a few) of a book you are reading or thinking about reading soon.  This meme is guaranteed to increase your TBR :)

Please link your blog post using Mr. Linky below. Make sure the link you enter is the direct link to your Tuesday post, not the main link to your blog. Thank you!

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, now being hosted by Ambrosia at The Purple Booker. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

* Grab your current read

* Open to a random page

* Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page

* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)

* Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

I was going through the books on my e-reader and I saw this one.  It looks like a good cozy mystery series.

First Chapter

Prologue

Once every month, the sun, moon and Earth align, with the moon smack in between the sun and Earth.  On this night, the dark side of the moon faces the Earth.

Teaser...

But in astrological terms, the new moon has powerful, potent energy.

The new moon represents a clean slate.

Synopsis from Goodreads:

I was there when they found him. I was just trying to enjoy my honeymoon--the one I was on alone, after my fiancĂ© gave me the Miss Havisham-treatment two hours before the rehearsal dinner. I wanted to relax. Drink cocktails. Do yoga. Meditate in a mud bath. Maybe “find myself.” Maybe “find someone else.” What I found was a rich man floating in the bay of the Golden Hibiscus Resort. (Dead, of course.) And then I found a tangled financial web that proved what my friend Sibyl Whenever money’s involved, you have to watch the [redacted for language].” ***** MAI TAIS & MURDER is the first book in the Beach Cocktail mystery series, funny beach reads that follow a jilted bride and a gin-soaked divorcĂ©e as they encounter various deaths and other crimes at a luxury beach resort.

  3. Sounds like a fun read.

I'm reading Nightwork by Nora Roberts.

Harry Booth started stealing at nine to keep a roof over his ailing mother’s head, slipping into luxurious, empty homes at night to find items he could trade for precious cash. When his mother finally succumbed to cancer, he left Chicago—but kept up his nightwork.

Wandering from the Outer Banks to Savannah to New Orleans, he dons new identities and stays careful, observant, distant. He can’t afford to attract attention—or get attached. Still, he can’t help letting his guard down when he meets Miranda Emerson. But the powerful bond between them cannot last—because not all thieves follow Harry’s code of honor. Some pay others to take risks so they can hoard more treasures. Some are driven by a desire to own people the way they own paintings and jewels. And after Harry takes a lucrative job commissioned by Carter LaPorte, LaPorte sees a tool he can use, and decides he wants to own Harry.

The man is a predator more frightening than the alligators that haunt the bayou—and when he strongarms Harry into robbing a Baltimore museum, Harry abandons Miranda—cruelly, with no explanation—and disappears. But no matter what name he uses or where he goes, LaPorte casts a shadow over Harry’s life. To truly free himself, he must face down his enemy once and for all. Only then can he hope to possess something more valuable than anything he has ever stolen…

    Have a fabulous day. ♥

  4. It sounds like a new twist on some old character types, and new twists can be fascinating.

  6. I like the sound of the blurb - especially with the Miss Havisham treatment - but the beginning was a little astrology heavy for me. I'd still give it a try though and I'll be looking for your review.
