This week I'm joining in Book Beginnings on Friday. It's hosted by Rose City Reader. This is where we post the beginning of the books we are reading or will be reading.

I'm also joining in for the Friday 56.
Freda at Freda's Voice started and hosted The Friday 56 for a long, long time. She is taking a break and Anne at My Head if Full of Books has taken on hosting duties in her absence. Please visit Anne's blog and link to your Friday 56 post.

Book Beginnings
The second I saw the arm protruding from the mouth of the alligator, I knew it was going to be one of those days.
This is at 56% on my e-reader.
We paused long enough for our desserts to be placed in front of us. Nic had picked up on the fact that it was best for us not to be overheard.
Synopsis from Goodreads:
This is no ordinary wild animal removal call…
In the sleepy panhandle of Florida, Benjamin “Elmo” Simpson has carved out a comfortable niche as the go-to wild animal removal specialist. Life is sweet until a peculiar service request takes him to a local condo and an unexpected scene. Retired lawyer Fran Cohen is missing and in his apartment is a well-fed alligator that appears to have enjoyed a nice breakfast with…or rather, of…Fran.
All evidence points toward murder, and local alligator farmer, Waldo “Rambo” Quigley has the motive and the means. When Rambo pleads for help to clear his name, old debts and a history of friendship leave Elmo no choice but to investigate. With his girlfriend, Nicola, by his side, and Rambo’s freedom on the line, Elmo’s on the hunt for the real killer, but don’t panic…Elmo’s got a plan…sort of. Maybe.
Reptilian clues lead to unexpected allies, and the call of danger is addictive. Can Elmo uncover the identity of Fran’s killer before becoming the next victim, removed from the scene like an unwanted pest?
What do you think? What are you sharing today?
That opening line is so funny. Do you know? Do alligators only eat living things? So the arm was attached to a living being? Or could the victim have been dead first? It is a mystery, I guess.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! A pet alligator that ate his owner?! Oh my!
ReplyDeleteNot a fan of alligators so I will pass on this one. :)
ReplyDeleteI love that cover so much! And what a funny opening! I really want to read this one. Have a great weekend, Yvonne!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good mystery and a good lesson on why not to have a pet alligator.
