The Weekend Review - August 30th-September 1st

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now being hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to Stacking the Shelves which is hosted by Reading Reality.

Hi Everyone!

Happy Labor Day and 3-day weekend for those celebrating!  No big plans here.  The weather alternates between clouds and sun, but always stays around 90 degrees and humid.

I finished two books this week.  When I organized my September reads, I found I had a longer list than I thought.  I don't know how that happened.  So much for me trying to keep away from review requests and NetGalley.  It's just too tempting for me.  LOL

I only watched two shows this week - Dexter: Resurrection and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.  Both were good and, I think, both are at the end of their seasons.  I was getting bored with ST but this week's episode was really good.

Not much happening over here.  We're hoping to join a gym this week.  We would have done it last week, but we kept getting thunderstorms and torrential downpours whenever we were ready to go.  Hopefully this week will be different.

I hope everyone has a great week!

Upcoming books...

These are the books I want to read in September. A couple are carryovers from August.  I don't know how I got such a long list.   I'm pretty sure I won't finish all of these, but I'll give it a try.

Here is this week's e-book freebie haul.  They were freebies when I got them, I don't know if they still are. Always make sure to check they are still free before buying. The prices change quickly.

  1. I loved last season's episodes of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. We don't have that network right now, but we were able to watch a couple of episodes when we were at a hotel on vacation. They were just meh. I'm glad to hear they get better.

    1. I was ready to stop watching, but the last episode was fun. I'm glad I stuck with it, but there haven't been many good episodes this season.

  3. Is that a new-ish season of Dexter? My dad was talking last night about watching Dexter. I've never watched any of it, but it sounds like something I'd enjoy.

    1. Dexter: Resurrection is a brand new series of Dexter. I think we are coming up to the season finale. Since the original Dexter, they have had three spinoffs. IMO, Resurrection is the best.

  5. Exciting looking books. I had a quick look at my September reading list and it is jammed. I need to stop seeing books. I do get sent a lot of ebooks from a publisher too which adds to the pile 😂

    Have a great week!

  7. I liked Dexter Resurrection a lot. Couldn't get into ST: SNW. I have really been cutting down my NG requesting. It was time. This is my SP/SS: https://bonniereadsandwrites.com/2025/08/31/sunday-post-sunday-salon-the-bumble-is-in-the-building/

    1. I thought Resurrection was great. ST: SNW has both good episodes and bad ones. I'm trying to cut down on NG requests too. Sometimes it's just too tempting.
