Blog Tour: Boca Undercover by Miriam Auerbach (Review/Giveaway)

About the Book

Genre: Mystery, #4 in the Dirty Harriet Mystery Series
Publisher: Bell Bridge Books
Release Date: October 2014

Synopsis from Goodreads...

Patients at a posh Boca Raton rehab center are ending up stiffer than a Boca babe's smile. Tough PI Harriet Horowitz, once a bedazzled babe herself, signs in at The Oasis at the request of a frightened friend.

As a pattern emerges in the murders, it's clear the killer is targeting patients with an unusual addiction. How did they end up with the same drug problem at the same time and in the same rehab together? Harriet's sleuthing leads her down a path of secrets and danger, and what she learns could lead her undercover assignment to a dead end.

My Review

Harriet Horowitz used to be a Boca babe socialite, but these days she’s a private investigator who does whatever it takes to crack a case. Sometimes it means checking herself into an unnecessary rehab program, but that’s exactly what Harriet does this time.

A friend of hers is already at the rehab for an addiction problem and seeks out Harriet’s help. She’s sure there is a killer loose in the rehab center when several patients turn up dead. She pleads with Harriet to help and that’s what led to Harriet checking herself into The Oasis as a patient.

It’s an intriguing case that stumps Harriet right from the start. All of the victims have the same addiction problem at the same time in the same place. It’s just not making sense to Harriet.

As she digs deeper and deeper into the mystery, Harriet remembers an unhappy time in her own life. She’s determined to concentrate on the present case, but she learns that it’s not easy to put the past behind her.

This is the fourth book in the series and I haven’t read any of the previous books. As far as the storyline goes, it didn’t matter to me. I was able to jump right in and get caught up in all the action. I didn’t feel as if I were missing anything, but I do intend to read the first three books. I want to know how Harriet got to this point in her life.

This is a fast-pace book that never slows down. It keeps readers on their toes and cheering from the sidelines. Boca Undercover is filled with humor, romance and mystery. Just the right mix of all three to entice readers into this series.

Harriet made me laugh and cry. I want to know more about her relationship with Lior and I want to learn more about the rest of the crazy cast of characters. I especially need to know more about Harriet's good friend Lana the Alligator.   This is the perfect book to take on the beach and just chill out with.
