First Chapter, First Paragraph, Tuesday Intros/Teaser Tuesdays - August 24th

It's Tuesday!  It's time to share your excerpts and teasers from books we are currently reading, have read or are planning to read.  So, feel free to join us by sharing the first paragraph or (a few) of a book you are reading or thinking about reading soon.  This meme is guaranteed to increase your TBR :)

Please link your blog post using Mr. Linky below. Make sure the link you enter is the direct link to your Tuesday post, not the main link to your blog. Thank you!

I, also, participate and link up to Teaser Tuesdays.  Here's info about that meme:

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, now being hosted by Ambrosia at The Purple Booker. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

* Grab your current read

* Open to a random page

* Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page

* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)

* Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This is the 8th book in a cozy mystery series.  I read and enjoyed the previous ones.   I want to get back to this series.

First Chapter...

Kendell McDonald smiled at the ring that sat prominently on her left ring finger.  Now, everything made sense to her.  While her boyfriend Jack's previous behavior was inexcusable, this at least made it all make sense.

Teaser...

Pauline leaned over Kendell's shoulder.  "I can.  Your writing is fun and witty.  And, you know, we brought down a Russian mob...People want to know what us crazy ladies are up to."

Synopsis from Goodreads:

A deadly day down under
A cozy mystery from #1 Bestselling Author Susan Harper

Kendell and Pauline are on an expedition in the Australian outback. When their guide, a wildlife expert, turns up dead, they find themselves stranded in the presence of a murderer. Can the girls find the deadliest animal down under, who just might happen to be a human being?

  4. Blind Tiger by Sandra Brown

    Synopsis from Goodreads:

The year 1920 comes in with a roar in this rousing and suspenseful novel by #1 New York Times bestselling author Sandra Brown. Prohibition is the new law of the land, but murder, mayhem, lust, and greed are already institutions in the Moonshine Capitol of Texas.

Thatcher Hutton, a war-weary soldier on the way back to his cowboy life, jumps from a moving freight train to avoid trouble . . . and lands in more than he bargained for. On the day he arrives in Foley, Texas, a local woman goes missing. Thatcher, the only stranger in town, is suspected of her abduction, and worse. Standing between him and exoneration are a corrupt mayor, a crooked sheriff, a notorious cathouse madam, a sly bootlegger, feuding moonshiners . . . and a young widow whose soft features conceal an iron will.

What was supposed to be a fresh start for Laurel Plummer turns to tragedy. Left destitute but determined to dictate her own future, Laurel plunges into the lucrative regional industry, much to the dislike of the good ol’ boys, who have ruled supreme. Her success quickly makes her a target for cutthroat competitors, whose only code of law is reprisal. As violence erupts, Laurel and—now deputy—Thatcher find themselves on opposite sides of a moonshine war, where blood flows as freely as whiskey.

    Have a fabulous day. ♥
