The Weekend Review - May 21st-23rd

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now being hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to  Stacking The Shelves which is hosted by Reading Reality.

Hi Everyone!

This week was my 35th wedding anniversary.  We went out to a local concert and to dinner.  So, that was nice.

Our weather goes from really hot to very stormy.  The best place for me is inside with a good book 😀  I only finished one this week, but it was a good one.  My TV shows are having their season finales either this past week or next week, so after that I will have much more reading time.  I've been doing a good job at clearing out the DVR.  I don't want to have a backlog of shows that need to be watched.  I'm more than ready to spend my days reading.  Even with me only reading one book a week lately, my Goodreads challenge says I'm 3 books ahead of schedule so that's not bad at all.

Question - does anyone read sports romances?  I'm looking for a good baseball series.  Any recommendations?  I already have the Meghan Quinn books on my Kindle.

Not too much else going on here.  I hope everyone has a great week.

  1. Happy Anniversary! I hear you on cleaning out the DVR. I always feel great when I clean it out. Right now, I've got a bunch of older Hallmark mystery movies I haven't watched on it, so it will take me a bit to get it cleaned off.

  2. Congratulations!

Looking forward to seeing your thoughts on Shipman, and the Murder She Wrote jumped out at me since I see Terrie farley Moran co- wrote it. I read a cozy or two by her and liked them!

  3. Happy anniversary and I am glad that you had fun and enjoyed it. I have been struggling to finish even a book a week and I am 3 books behind on my Goodreads goal! I have to catch up right?

I hope you have a great week ahead.

  7. Our weather here went from hot to rainy to cold!! Low last night 46 I am not a happy camper! To cold for May, I want my warm weather. Hope you have a great week!

  8. Happy Anniversary! 35 years is such an accomplishment (we’re marking 33 years in September). I’m looking forward to Mr Perfect on Paper. Have a wonderful week ahead!

  9. Great titles! I hope you have a great week, and stay safe.

  10. Happy anniversary! Good job cleaning out the DVR and freeing up lots of reading time!

  11. Happy anniversary! It sounds like you celebrated in style.

I didn't know there were Murder She Wrote books. I used to enjoy the TV show.

I don't really read sports romances but an online friend of mine, Jennifer Lane, writes some you might like:

  12. Happy Anniversary! I would have suggested the Meghan Quinn series for sure. I think Sara Ney has a baseball romance. Also maybe J Sterling, Lani Lynn Vale. Have a great week!

  13. Happy anniversary! Glad you were able to go out and celebrate. It's been really hot, even first thing in the morning... I come back from my walk dripping and spend the rest of the day indoors. Try to get out again around sunset if it isn't raining. Have a good week!

  14. A good load of books there! I will have to look to see if those are still free!

Hope you had a great weekend!

  15. Congratulations on your Anniversary!! I've accepted the fact that I will never catch up on my DVR and don't expect to. I wish we had some stormy weather I'm in North Cali it's been nothing but hot. I hope you find a baseball series I wish I had one to suggest. I hope you have a great week and enjoy all your books.

  16. Happy anniversary Yvonne! Wow! 34 years... That's almost my age... (In reverse LOL!!!) Glad you had a lovely time.

  17. Happy anniversary! :D That's so exciting! You've been married for 11 years longer than I have.

The weather has been so wishy washy lately, hasn't it? It's really annoying. I wish it would just pick a season, lol.

I hope you have a great week!

    My Sunday Post

  18. Happy Anniversary!! My husband and I celebrated 23 years last weekend :) Looks like a great selection of books. Have a great week!

  19. Happy Anniversary! It sounds like you had a nice time.
Regarding sports romances, I was looking for a baseball book a couple of years ago and came across Sit, Stay, Love by Dana Mentink. It involves a baseball player, some dogs and some romance. It is a series, but the baseball theme didn't continue through it. I will be curious if you find a good one.

    Have a good week!

  20. Good news that you are ahead of schedule on your reading. This is Us was so good last week. I can't believe there is only one episode left. Have a great week. XO

  21. Hope you find that baseball sports fiction series. Sounds like reading weather.

  22. Happy anniversary! Thirty-five years is a long time! Congratulations.

I don't like having a lot of shows in my queue. Sometimes I like to go through and delete everything and start fresh.

It's a good feeling to be ahead of schedule on your reading.

  23. Happy anniversary! I also enjoy sports romances but haven't read any for a while. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  24. Happy Anniversary 🥂

Wishing you a great reading week

  25. I have the Ellen Byron and the Diane Kelly book coming up and am really looking forward to reading them! I hope you are having a wonderful week!
