The Weekend Review - August 13th-15th

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now being hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to  Stacking The Shelves which is hosted by Reading Reality.

Hi Everyone!

We are now in the middle of August and I still can't believe how fast time is flying.  It's really weird, but that's how it is.  Everyone seems to be in "back to school" mode now.

Reading:  I finished two books.  Both were good.  I've been on a lucky roll reading good books lately.  I'm choosing right for me:)

Watching:  Haven't watched much TV, but I'm all caught up with Better Call Saul.  The series finale is this Monday.  Also, Resident Alien is back and I watched that.  It's so funny.

Not much else happening around here.  I'm glad about that.  I hope you all have a great week ahead!

I finished reading ...

I'm planning to read one of these next...

Here are this week's Kindle freebie haul. They were freebies when I got them, I don't know if they still are. Always make sure to check they are still free before buying. The prices change quickly.

  1. All the schools here have started back. We are homeschool so we're a little more flexible but are planning on starting Monday. Enjoy your reading and have a great week!

  2. Schools around here started this last week. It really does seem so very early.

  3. I'm glad you had a good reading week. I like the sound of Casserole Ladies and Take My Husband. (I'm in the mood for a comedy, I think.)

It's crazy how fast time is flying. I wrote a check this week and I had to think hard to remember that it's August!

  4. Hi Yvonne, I can't believe school starts so early in some areas....still summer IMO. Our schools open the beginning of September but don't get out until around the third week of June.

Lots pf interesting books read or lined up. I've been on a good steak with winners lately as well; hope that doesn't change. Have a good week.

  5. Take my Husband and Cookies and Crime sound absolutely fab. I hope your week is going great. A lot of people seem to be watching Better Call Saul.

  6. I can't wait to see season two of Resident Alien! We have to wait for the library to get it in DVD as we don't have streaming or TV feed.

  7. You do a great job at posting every day....of your new freebies Chasing Whispers has a great title so I'll go check that one out. Have a great week.

  8. I like your interesting books, none of which I have read as yet.

  9. A few of those look like ones I might enjoy. Not much going on can definitely be a very good thing! Enjoy your Sunday. :-)

  10. We love Resident Alien- that is our favorite show. We plan to binge watch Better Call Saul. I can't believe it is ending and we had never seen it.

  11. A cruise is on my mind, even a murder mystery one, lol.

  12. Time IS flying by. I can't believe it's the middle of August. Just yesterday, it seems, it was my birthday (mid-April).

    My Sunday Post

  13. Mid August- I can't believe it either. It's kind of irritating me lol. Where'd summer go?? :)

    Chasing Whispers looks fun.

  14. Somehow I will have to avoid social media for the next 6 months since I haven't even completed S1 of Better Call Saul yet. lol

  15. All those books look good. It's great when you have a great run of books!

    Have a great weekend!

  16. I know; I can't believe we're halfway through August already. Yikes. Although I am very ready for cooler weather.

Have a great week, and I hope this week's reads are just as good as last week's!

  17. Lots of goodies, enjoy!
Yes, this summer is going way too fast.

  18. It's so great when you get on a roll of choosing books that are right for you. We love Better Call Saul, but haven't watched the new season yet. Have a good week!

  19. So happy to hear you've been on a good roll with your books! It's such a motivating feeling! Take care and have a wonderful week ahead.

  20. Such a great feeling to be on a roll with good books!

  21. It seems like everyone is going back to school this week! The Casserole Ladies looks fun! Have a great week!

  22. It's always great when we have books we really enjoy reading. Nothing worse than hitting something we don't like or are lukewarm about.

  23. Nice selection of cozies! My list is up today:

  24. Your books look good! I tend to have higher ratings of my books, and I think it's because I am finally choosing those that are right for me. Enjoy!

  25. So many great looking books on your list this week. I checked out a couple of your reviews and now want to add more books to my overloaded TBR Pile.

Time is definitely flying by. We bring our youngest to college at the end of the week.

  26. Nice looking books. Summer is flying past. Even though schools don't start here until after Labor Day, it seems like Back to School fever has begun. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  27. Vampires and Villains has a really cute cover! I hope it's good.
It's crazy how fast this summer went. We are definitely in back-to-school mode at our house.
