The Weekend Review - November 19th-21st

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now being hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to  Stacking The Shelves which is hosted by Reading Reality.

Hi Everyone!

Can you believe it's just a few days until Thanksgiving?  I can't believe how time is flying.  The weather in Florida doesn't do anything to remind me that it's winter and almost Thanksgiving.  It's not really very hot but it's certainly not cold or snowy.  LOL

It's been a relatively quiet week here.  That's the way I like it :)

I'm sure many of you have heard about the craziness of Twitter.  I'm still over there for now, but I decided to re-activate my Instagram account.  I'm not sure what I'll be doing there, but I'm there.  If any of you are over there, please feel free to friend me.  My user ID is socratesbookreviews  I'll be happy to follow back.

I've been binging on Criminal Minds this week. I saw it when it originally aired, but I forgot so many things.  This week they are releasing a new mini-series and I'll be watching.

I finished two books this week and wrote reviews.  Do you write reviews right after you read the books or do you wait?  I try to do them right away.  It helps keep everything fresh in my mind if I do it right away. What do you do?

Nothing much going on this week for me.  I hope you all have a great week!

  1. I try to write reviews within a day or two of finishing a book. That doesn't always happen, but it is my aim.

  2. Hard to belive Thanksgiving is THIS week. It's snowy and cold here- we're having a winter blast. And for reviews- I'm the same, I like towrite them right after I finish the book as well.

Twitter... wow. Crazy or what? I'm thinking of doing more on IG too. :)

  3. I haven't watched Criminal Minds in forever though I used to absolutely love it. I will have to rewatch it soon. Have a great week!

  4. Though my reviews are rather short, I do like to write them right after I finish the book. I may edit them a few days later, but it helps to have those first impressions in writing. Thank you for sharing the freebies on Amazon!

  5. I never did much on Twitter so I won't miss it. But I've been thinking about making my IG account active again too. Just trying to figure out how I"ll find time for the photos! :) Have a terrific week and a nice Thanksgiving.

  7. Great looking books there! The weather here in the UK certainly isn't Winter but then again it changes so much over every season that it makes it hard to judge!

I write a review immediately after finishing a book. If I don't think that I will have time to review a book then I will put off finishing it.

    Have a great week!

  8. I wonder when the Criminal Minds special will air here? I’m a fan of the show so I’ll probably just watch it with a VPN.
I try to write a review within two days or so. I need time to think about the book first.

I followed you on Insta :)

Wishing you a great reading week

  9. I can't believe November is almost over! I try to do my reviews not long after I read the book but sometimes I get behind...lol.

Hope you have a great Thanksgiving!

  10. I love that you like Criminal Minds. I actually know an actor who has been on the show and they are quite talented. Happy Thanksgiving.

  11. That Cowboys and Chaos has such an adorable cover!
I try to write my reviews straight away, but I've hear a lot of people like to write them later so they can let their feelings for the books develop and sink in. I prepare my review post so I only need to add the rating and actual review, and then type it all up and edit it a little while later so I can re-read it if there's anything I want to update. I find if I don't do that, I've forgotten everything lol. I start another book straight away so I kind of forget the last one to make room the the new one I suppose? :')
    Have a good week!

  12. The weather is fairly warm here in the UK. It has been a strange few years!

Some great looking books this week!

I don't really understand Twitter. I tweet about my Blog, Blog Tours and retweet Bookish stuff 😂

    Have a great week!

  13. Girl, no! I can't believe Thanksgiving is just days away and I'm stressing out because I now have only 1 hour in which to make changes to my grocery pickup order. Did I forget anything??? Gravy, Coolwhip, Cranberries...

I usually write my reviews immediately after finishing a book because my memory is so dang short, but I don't put a lot of thought into my reviews ...they're mostly just a jumble of notes / favorite lines / favorite moments.

    Following you on Insta!

  14. It seems like Halloween was only a week ago. I'm really not ready for Thanksgiving yet. Well, I am now; we just picked up our grocery order, so I have what I need to make Thanksgiving dinner.

I am so behind on writing reviews, but I decided to focus on NaNoWriMo this month. But I do try to write down my thoughts when I finish a book, and write the review from those later. (I don't always succeed, but that's the system I try to use!)

I'm debating whether to delete my Twitter account entirely, or just let it sit there, unused. I've been on Instagram for years now, though I am not very consistent about posting there. But I will follow you.

    Have a happy Thanksgiving!

  15. Hi Yvonne! I'm not big on Twitter, so nope - no idea what's happening there. I did just follow you on Instagram!

Cowboys and Chaos are waiting for me as well, first week of my holidays I'll get to it!

Have a good week and happy reading!

  16. I just sent you a request on Instagram. My account is private, but if you send me a request to connect I'll approve it. I had Twitter years ago and cancelled it. I only used it for my Etsy shop, which I closed a few years ago. I don't miss Twitter at all. As far as writing reviews go, I usually write them when the book or movie is still fresh in my mind, though I don't always post them right away. It depends on if I have something more seasonable I want to post first. Have a great week and Happy Thanksgiving! :-)

  17. Twitter is crazy right now. I've been on there forever, but I still feel weird tweeting. I will look you up on Instagram! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  18. It's never very cold and certainly not snowy at my home along the Gulf Coast of Texas either. I'm a little sad about that.

I'm not happy about the mess with Twitter lately either. Very frustrating.

I write my reviews as soon as I finish the books.

  19. I just followed you on Instagram (I'm webofstories). I gave up Twitter a while ago and am now trying to figure out Mastadon. I'm liking it--it's far less of a dumpster fire, but harder to find people. - Melinda @ A Web of Stories

  20. Criminal Minds is a show I never got into. Maybe someday we will binge watch it. :)

  21. I always write my review immediately, if I start another book before that I can't keep my thoughts clear, so book closed and review before opening another. Enjoy this week's reading.

  22. That is the one thing my daughter doesn't like about being down south: it doesn't feel like holidays at home. She said it was too warm for fall. Thankfully, she came home for a few days in October and saw the leaves changing.

Your books sounds great. Cowboys and Chaos and Beachside Bakery caught my eye.

  23. I try to review within a day or so of finishing each book. I like to wait overnight to give my brain time to mull everything over, but not too much longer or the new book I will have started fills my mind instead.

  24. I can't believe how fast November has gone. I'm not ready for Christmas! I have so much shopping to do. Have a great week!

  25. I'm terrible. I wait a long ng time before writing a review. I have 3 to write right now, so I'd better get working on it.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

I am reading The Rewind, although I've barely started it.

    Enjoy your Thanksgiving!

  27. I usually write my reviews within 24 hours of finishing a book. Sometimes I need more time to distill my thoughts though. I don't post to Twitter but there are still people there I follow. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
