The Weekend Review - November 26th-28th

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now being hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to  Stacking The Shelves which is hosted by Reading Reality.

Hi Everyone!

I hope everyone who celebrates Thanksgiving had a good one.  My husband and I had a quiet one.  He's still recuperating from his hernia operation, so we celebrated at home together with a delicious turkey dinner.  Now that Thanksgiving is over, I'm guessing December will fly by with the rest of the holidays.

I only finished one book this week and it was a good one.  Now I'm reading one of my favorite cozy series by Elizabeth Pantley and loving this one.

This month I'll have to get my reading challenges in order for 2023.  I'm all set with the ones I host, but now I have to join up with other challenges that other people host.  There are a few I do every year even if I don't complete them. I just love reading challenges 😀

Not much else going on around here.  Our weather remains hot and it definitely doesn't feel like the holidays around here.

I hope you all have a great week and read some great books!

  1. Glad you had a nice Thanksgiving- and hope your husband is feeling better soon. It was a nice holiday here too but I feel like December is definitely going to fly!

  2. I've started thinking about reading challenges too - I only did one this year after overdoing it the year before. Now I'm itching to join in again. But trying to keep it realistic = ha - I love reading challenges, even if I don't finish!

  4. I'm glad you had a lovely Thanksgiving. We spread ours out: a weekend before Thanksgiving and then Thanksgiving Day.

I skipped challenges for a lot of years, but I've just gotten back to them for the last few years, and I find that when I carefully choose a few of them, I can use my challenges to guide my reading. I like that.

  5. I'm glad you had a good Thanksgiving! I also need to sort out my reading challenges for next year. I'm tempted not to sign up for any because I usually fail them, but maybe they'll keep me motivated.

  6. We stayed in for Thanksgiving too, eating in and watching soccer and movies. Not too bad after all.

  7. I still have to work out what new challenge I’ll take on for next year, so many to choose from!

Wishing you a great reading week

  8. Some cute looking books there. I hope your husband gets well soon. A quiet Thanksgiving sounds good. We don't celebrate it here in the UK but I have learnt a lot about it this past week blog hopping!

    Have a good weekend.

  10. We had a quiet Thanksgiving for two here at home as well. I prefer going out to eat but it's nice to just stay home in my jammies. lol

  11. I'm glad you had a nice thanksgiving, I hope your husband recovers quickly. My dad had a hernia operation in his stomach a few years ago but felt much better after the operation.
Those are some pretty popular books you've been reading! I've seen them about the blogosphere. I hope you enjoyed them x

  12. I'm glad your Thanksgiving was enjoyable, even though it was quiet. (Or maybe because it was quiet?) Ours was quiet, too. We fixed a full Thanksgiving meal, but other than that, we just hung out -- and watched Star Wars: A New Hope in the evening.

I hope your husband recovers quickly. Good luck getting your challenges pulled together! I'll be hosting The Backlist Reader Challenge again; watch for the sign-up post in the first part of December sometime.

  14. Happy Thanksgiving! Glad it was good, ours was too! I haven't finished many books recently but hope to get back into routine soon!

  15. Our Thanksgiving was quiet too. I don't do book challenges because I don't want to add any pressure to my life. It is enough of a challenge for me to schedule in my review books. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  16. Nice to have a quiet Thanksgiving. A cozy read is perfect as well. I did do challenges but haven't really done them for a couple of years now. I like your attitude though, join and don't worry about it if you don't finish. It leaves room for fun and no pressure.

  17. I hope your husband recovers soon. Cowboys and Chaos (and the entire series) looks like a very entertaining read. As soon as I finish this year's challenge, I'm going to link up for next year. I'm down to the wire, but I think I will finish. This was my first reading challenge and it was fun. I came across so many great books and I pushed myself to read more than I otherwise would have. Plus I made some new friends. :)

  18. I love reading challenges too. I need to get organized for 2023. Sometimes planning for the challenges is as much fun as the reading!
