The Weekend Review - January 27th-29th

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now being hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to Stacking the Shelves which is hosted by Reading Reality.

Hi Everyone!

It's hard to believe January is almost over, isn't it?  That went pretty fast.  I'll probably finish January with 8 books read.  That's about average for me.  The good thing is they've been such good books.  I've enjoyed them all so much.  I hope the rest of the year is this good as far as books go.

As for what I've been watching, I've mainly just been sticking with binging on Game of Thrones.  I'm in season 5 now.  I've also been watching Chicago PD, Med and Fire.  Most of my other shows will be back in February.

Other than that, a quiet week for me.  Just reading and watching GOT.   I hope everyone has a great week!

Posts last week:

Tuesday:  Top Ten Tuesday

I'm currently reading...

I finished reading ...

Here's my reading list through February.  As always, this list is subject to change due to my mood (and other deadlines). 😁

There have been so many "Stuff your Kindle" days lately.  They are usually only good for a day or two.  Here is this week's Kindle freebie haul. They were freebies when I got them, I don't know if they still are. Always make sure to check they are still free before buying. The prices change quickly.

  1. You have a nice week too! I hope the Mulhern book, I enjoyed that series but think I left off around 4 or 5?

  2. It is hard to believe January is almost over. Hope the fact that you loved your January books is a sign of a good reading year for you, too.

  3. Cute bunch of books. Looking forward to a new month and a new batch of books, huh?

  4. It's amazing how many of your titles include the word "murder" -- mysteries are a great genre, and I like to read them too.
    best, mae at

  5. I love the Country club series! Hope you have a great week!

  6. The rain has kept me indoors last week, and that means I've gotten to do a lot of reading. I'm glad you have been enjoying GOT and your books!

  7. Eight good books is a terrific way to start the new year!

  8. Great looking books! I enjoy the Mulhern cozies, and must read more of them.

I need to read Murder She Wrote. Loved that series.

  9. I hope you have a wonderful week too, Yvonne ☕📚🪱😊

  10. I can't believe it's nearly February. I always think I'll watch tv but don't really except when during meal prep. Happy reading!

Anne - Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post

  11. I hope you enjoy all of these when you get to them. Have a great weekend!

  12. I'm so far behind in the Country Club murder series, but they are so much fun! Hope you have another good week.

  13. I've had a good bookish month, too. I want to eventually read all of the Murder, She Wrote books, and I have my eyes on Ill-fated Fortune as well. Have a great week. :)

  14. It seems like you're bingeing GoT faster than before since you finished season 4 in on week. What did you think of that season? Have a great week.

    1. It was good. I tend to get a bit confused with all the different characters, but wow it's a violent series, isn't it? I'm almost done with season 5 now.

  15. This month did fly by. I hope your cat scan went well. XO

  16. Glad you had an enjoyable month in reading. The cover of Just The Way You are looks like a movie poster from the 1960s. Interesting!

  17. I'm glad you are enjoying your reading so much. Someday I hope to get back to it.

  18. I stopped watching Game of Thrones after the Third season because I cancelled my cable subscription. I know my library has all the DVDs, so I should just start from the beginning again. ☺

Have a wonderful new week. ☀

  19. I haven't even thought about regular shows in a long time. I should probably check to see when the ones I follow will be back. I can't believe January is almost over either. I am glad you had a good reading month. I feel like I did too. You have a great line up of books there. Several I would like to read too. I hope you have a great week, Yvonne!

  20. Yes January has sped by. It is great when we read books we really feel are worth our reading time.

  21. I can't believe it is nearly February either.

I must take a closer look at the Probst book!

  22. Quiet weeks can be good for lots of things. Glad you got some reading and watching done. The cover of Only the Good Die Young is so cute. Hope you enjoy your week.

  23. Sounds like a nice week. It is hard to believe how quickly January has gone. Enjoy your books this week too. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  24. I'm glad you found so many great books! I hope next month's reads are just as good.
