The Weekend Review - October 5th-7th

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now being hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to Stacking the Shelves which is hosted by Reading Reality.

Hi Everyone!

This is the time of year to worry about storms.  Although the last hurricane missed us, Hurricane Milton is supposedly heading in our direction.  I tend to think it's too early to know for sure.  Whatever we get is supposed to happen mid-week.  I'll make sure to have my e-readers charged just in case.

I only finished one book this week.  It was a good one...it had a murder on a cruise ship.  I do enjoy cruise ship cozy mysteries lately.  I didn't do much TV watching this week.  I did watch Survivor, Chicago Fire, Med and PD.  The rest of the shows are on my DVR.

For those in the path of any of the storms, I hope you are alright and not having to deal with any damage or injuries.  I wish you all a safe and good week.

  1. I used to love those free cozies and romances from Kindle. Now I have so many of them I have to purge my lists! Enjoy!

  2. I didn't realize that Milton has already become a hurricane. I guess you and I are on alert again. This has been an awful year for hurricanes.

Pier Pressure sounds like a fun read.

  3. Richard Osman’s new book is on everybody’s list. I liked it a lot, as I have liked all his earlier mysteries. It’s your only choice that I am familiar with.

  4. I may be interested in Chicago Fire...is it like Third Watch with all the professions getting screen time? Firefighters, police and EMTs?

I hope Milton doesn't cause you any trouble, particularly flooding. So tired of this hurricane season...

    1. I didn't watch Third Watch, so I don't know. Chicago Fire is mainly about the firefighters and EMT workers. Chicago PD follows with their own show so the police aren't on it very much. Good luck with the rest of the storm season.

  6. Cruise ship mysteries can be so fun, I like the way it creates a closed circle of suspects, and they can be really clever in how they use the setting.

Your October reading list looks fun!

  8. I'm a bit worried to see another hurricane on tap again already. Let's hope it veers off into the ocean only. We were watching Bosch but my daughter is anxious enough we are only watching Chopped now.

  10. Hope the storms miss you. It's so sad to hear about those things.

I'm excited to hear your thoughts on Love You a Latke. I wasn't sure if it was clean or not so I haven't requested it.

My week was uneventful but I did get more posts up than normal. https://carlabruns.com/2024/10/06/circle-letter-3/

  11. You've got a lot going on, as we all do, I pray the storms just veer away from everyone or bring only a bit of rain.

  12. Stay safe during Milton... our county evacuated barrier islands and now zones A and B on the mainland! Glad we're still in CT, but very worried for our friends and property.

  13. I hope the hurricane misses you. It seems this had been a particularly bad year for storms. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  17. Hope the storm either misses you completely or has eased off by the time it hits you.

  18. I'm hoping Milton steers clear of you. It's looking bad but they can change in an instant so I"m hoping it fizzles out - or at least settles down. Stay safe! I've heard good things about the new Richard Osman book and I do love a curise ship mystery. I hope you're having a wonderful week.
