Synopsis from Goodreads:

Gertrude can be a bit cranky!

She shoots from the hip, is unburdened by tact, and likes things done her way. Yet, the people who know her adore her.

It's a mystery.

Speaking of mysteries, Gertrude never set out to be a sleuth. But when one of her many cats is missing, Gertrude goes out searching and learns that one of her neighbors has also disappeared. My Review

Gertrude is a cat lady.  She discovers one of her cats is missing so she goes searching.  She discovers her kitty with two children who are all alone.  She learns that their mother hasn’t come home yet, so Gertrude goes looking for her.  It’s not long before she realizes she has a murder on her hands.

Gertrude is no youngster and her walker doesn’t let her move around too quickly, but she is determined to help these children.  With an assist from another neighbor, Gertrude is on the case of the missing mother.

To say Gertrude is a curmudgeon would be an understatement.  She annoys everyone, but she never gives up her fight.  She is LOL material to say the least.  It takes some time to warm up to her, but her antics made me laugh from start to finish.

It’s a quick read and I’m glad to see there are more books for me to read.  A senior sleuth and a house full of cats?  The perfect series for me.

  1. While technically a female can't be a curmudgeon (or so I've been told), she sounds feisty and fun and a force to be reckoned with.
