Sunday/Monday Posts - March 15th and 16th

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now a Facebook group.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to  Stacking The Shelves which is hosted by Team Tynga's Reviews.

Happy Weekend!

I was away in Florida last week so I didn't do much blogging.  So, the books I listed below as being finished are from the past couple of weeks.  I had some good reading and it looks like I have some more coming my way.

We're having a rainy weekend but that's a good thing.  I can read and catch up on TV, plus it's washing away all the snow.  It's been a long time since the snow has looked pretty.  It's become an eyesore and very dirty.  So, I'm glad to see it being washed away :)

A question for all blog owners - what do you do about spammers?  I'm trying to avoid using captcha or having to approve every comment before it's published but the spammers seem to have become more frequent in the last few weeks.

That's about it for this week.  So, how was your week?
Yvonne

  1. If they come back a lot I report them over and over so google will notice

  2. I remember having them a lot more on my blogger site, so I do have to approve comments. No Captcha, though...I hate that!

Word Press catches most of them...unfortunately, they also dump some non-spam comments...but I look at the spam section a lot to catch those.

Enjoy your week, and what a great getaway to Florida.

  3. I hate captcha and would comment less if you adopted it. Approving comments can be a pain but you'll drive away fewer commenters. Most of my spammers get caught by Blogger, rarely do any make it to actually being published so I don't worry about it.

I hope you enjoyed your time in Florida. We're having a rainy weekend too; die snow, die!

  4. I hope you had a lovely time in Florida! It looks like you got quite a bit of reading done. Threads of Deceit looks interesting. Can't wait to see what you think! Good luck with the spammers. I have absolutely no advice other than reporting them. So annoying!

  5. Welcome back and i hope your time in Florida was lovely. Yes, the snow ends up getting ugly..hope it all melts away!

  6. I guess there was no snow in Florida ;) I didn't have spammers on Blogger, I don't have any on WP either, not yet anyway. Enjoy your new books !

  7. Every time I visit your site I have a bunch more cozies that I want to check out! Have a great week!

  8. Yvonne, Sheila recently wrote about covers which appeal and I wasn't sure but I have to admit that 'drawn' covers appeal less. I noticed a lot of your covers this week are 'drawn'. I found myself immediately judging them negatively and wondered why. Obviously some sort of warped perception I have, but I didn't realise it until then!

  9. I also had a run of spammers a few years back. I changed my settings to moderate comments after a week (I leave the first week open as I find it easy to keep checking the comments from the past week as it's usually only a couple of posts.)
I get an email alert when new comments appear for moderation. I can easily delete (or publish) the spam comments from this email which means I can do it on my PC or on my phone.

  10. I've said it before and will say it again - your copies have intriguing covers

  11. Some of those covers and titles are just wonderful, I love Borrowed Crime, and Cat Man Deux, I really really need to find time to read some cozy mysteries!

  12. When I was on blogger I moderated all comments. Now that I'm selfhosted (with WordPress), I use Akismet, which is really good at catching spam but very occasionally catches stuff that isn't spam.

I hope you have a great week! Some of those cozies look really tempting on this grey and gloomy day.

Thank you for stopping by and visiting my blog! I always love reading comments and getting to know my readers!

After some careful consideration, I've decided to become an award-free blog. Although I appreciate and am honored by each and every award I've received, your comments and friendship are enough award for me. Thank you all so much for your thoughtfulness.

Due to way too many spam comments, I disabled the Anonymous User comments. We'll see if this works, otherwise I'll have to go back to word verification.
