Sunday/Monday Posts: February 7th and 8th

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now a Facebook group.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to  Stacking The Shelves which is hosted by Team Tynga's Reviews.

Happy February and Happy Sunday Everyone!

I've been MIA for a little bit, but I'm back :) Sometimes real life just takes over.  I needed to put the blog on hold, but I think I have things together now.

I finished a few books while I was off the blog.  Reviews will be coming shortly.  I don't know about all of you, but if I don't write reviews immediately after finishing a book, it's almost impossible to write the reviews.  I just have such a hard time remembering details and trying not to mix up books I've read after.  Usually I don't read another book until I write my review but I didn't have a chance to do that this time.

I've been watching some TV shows too.  I'm really hooked on The Blacklist and Code Black.  I'm looking forward to some of my shows returning this week - Survivor, Scandal, How To Get Away With Murder and Grey's Anatomy.

So, what's been going on with you?  Read anything good?  Watch anything good?  Hope you all have a great week!

Yvonne

  1. Hey welcome back! I want all those cozies! Especially Murder on Wheels and Booked for Trouble- those look fun.

I like to write my reviews right after I finish a book too, while it's fresh in my mind. Sometimes I let it percolate for a day but I don't like t go much longer if I can help it. :)

  2. A few cozies there Yvonne. Are you doing Stormi's February's cozy reads challenge?

And never apologise for your absence... though I do the same. I have to remind myself sometimes this isn't a job / doesn't pay and other commitments sometimes have to come first!

    Have a lovely week!

  3. It's good to see you again, Yvonne :) I'm just like you, I keep a notebook and pen in my purse so I can review books just after I read them, or else, I'll have to read them again. I started watching the 1st episode of The black list but didn't really like it, I should persevere. I'd love to watch How to get away with murder, though. Have a great week ;)

  5. I'm glad to see you and glad all is well! My husband and I have been talking about adding Black List to our list of shows so I'm glad to hear you're enjoying it. You read some great cozies! I read and really enjoyed the Cahoons and I really want to try Eva Gates. Have a great week!

  6. I love the Blacklist. I find that if I read the synopsis or last chapter the details of a book all come back to me. Mostly I try to write a review within 48 hrs.

  7. I'm with you about reviewing books. I need a few days to think on what I have read and develop my opinions. All the cat books sound fun! I am such a cat lady! Have a great week.

  8. I love the covers on the cozies, especially Murder on Wheels.

I also have to write my reviews immediately. Sometimes I even start writing on a Word doc while I'm reading...it helps when I finish the book to have the "bones" in place.

I'm also looking forward to the return of my favorite Thursday shows...the same ones you watch, except I've never gotten into Scandal. Perhaps I should watch that one on Netflix?

  11. Nice bunch of cozies you've got there! I just read and reviewed Murder on Wheels, too. And one of these days, I'm going to read the Miranda James books! As for reviews, I'm trying to be better about writing them up, if not immediately, then soon after finishing the book.

  12. Slight of Paw looks good. I just finished When Breath Become Air. It is the true story of a neurosurgeon who is diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. Very moving, should be required reading for all medical students.

  13. I'm reading Paranormal Museum and it's so fun. Looks like we have several of the same books. I noticed you were missing from my inbox. I hope everything is alright and glad you're back:)

  17. Sounds just like me-- I had to get real life in order then return to my blog. Unfortunately one of my primary blog emails was hacked in December, so I deleted it and my FB, my GR, my Bloglovin, and now starting the slow process of adding back my friends!
I know that Eva Gates is a pen name of Vicki Delany, whose Molly Smith series I love, so I must start in on that one.

I enjoy all the same TV shows as you, Yvonne. I look forward to their return this month. Have a good week.

  18. You are like me, got to write my reviews pretty immediately or I forget, especially if I get immersed in another book. I have just started watching first season of Scandal after reading Shonda Rhime's book!

  19. I used to watch a lot of TV. That was cut down when we dropped cable and picked up Hulu. I was in and out of anime and Korean dramas. But I got hooked on The Good Wife. Now it's miniscule TV time around here with other things to take care of. As an ohana we watch Project Runway at dinner. We started off with 12 and worked our way down to 11 but then Heidi spoiled who the was season 10 winner so we started w/the earliest PR season Hulu had - #6. So we got through seasons 6-10 and now the husband bought 13 and now 14 which we're in the mist of now. He and I usually catch up on Downton Abbey on the weekends. We're behind. I watch Nashville, the only time I'll listen to country.

  20. Booked for Trouble looks like an adorable mystery! I may add it to my list!
