First Chapter Tuesdays/Teaser Tuesdays - August 2nd

Every Tuesday Diane at Bibliophile By the Sea hosts First Chapter First Paragraph Tuesday Intros, where we share the first paragraph or (a few) of a book we are reading or thinking about reading soon. Care to join us?

If you'd like to play along on Teaser Tuesdays, just click the button above.

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

* Grab your current read
* Open to a random page
* Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This week I'm reading...

First chapter...

The arguing had gone on most of the night. In her room just three doors down the hall from her parents' master suite, Abby had been able to hear the sound of raised voices, but not the words. It wasn't the first time they'd fought recently, yet this time something felt different. The noisy exchange itself and fretting about it kept her awake most of the night.

Though her declaration was strong, Abby saw through it to the fear underlying her words. Wherever Megan was going, she was scared and filled with uncertainty. How could she not be?

What do you think? Would you keep reading?

  1. Oh sounds promising. Yes, I'd keep going.

  2. Yes, I want to know...

Mine is from a YA book about a girl in therapy for an eating disorder:

  3. Sounds good. My teaser this week is from The Widower's Wife by Cate Holahan - a mystery from my review stack. Happy reading!

  4. This comment has been removed by the author.

  5. The author's name is familiar and just looking at the cover I think, yes, read on.

  6. Between the cover and the intro, I'd keep reading!

  7. Yes, I'd keep going. Sounds promising.

  8. Not sure... I like a bit more escapism in my fiction. It looks like a readable, compelling book, though. Are you enjoying it? This is my offering -

  9. I already feel for Abby, reading the intro. I hope you are enjoying this one, Yvonne.

  10. I've enjoyed other books by this author, and this sounds like another good one. I like the way the author shows that the marriage is troubled, and I'm curious about what happens after the fight described in the opening.
My Tuesday post features BLUEBONNET SPRING

  11. Someone else last week mentioned Sherryl Woods and this book in particular. I would keep reading! Who is Megan? How does Abby meet her?

  12. Sounds like a promising read. I hope you enjoy it.

    Here's my teaser.

  13. I've never tried this author but, the intro makes me curious -- enjoy Yvonne

  14. Not sure, I'd need to read more to make a decision. Enjoy!
