Genre:
Romance

Release Date:

Synopsis from Goodreads:

One down-on-her-luck dog walker. One irresistible vet with the perfect job offer. Too bad dating a coworker is so not done.

Olive’s small-town life is crumbling as fast as an expired dog treat. Her side business is facing some fierce competition from a stuck-up dog walker and her part-time job as a barista hardly pays enough to cover the rent. Moving back home is out of the question, since her parents have turned her old bedroom into an exclusive hamster hotel.

For veterinarian Lewis, moving to Old Pine Cove with his dog Archie is the fresh start he’s been craving. He’s convinced breathing new life into the animal clinic will help him forget the big mess he left behind in Britain.

But then an accident lands Olive a job at his clinic, and before long, they’re stealing dreamy glances at each other over the treatment table.

Too bad true-to-his-word Lewis has sworn never to date an employee again…

In For a Treat is a sweet romantic comedy and part of the Old Pine Cove series. All books in this series share the same setting, but each book features a different couple.

My Review

Olive’s life is quickly turning upside down. She doesn’t make much money as a dog walker or a tarot card reader for dogs, but she has to find a way to support herself. Her parents turned her old room into a hamster hotel, so she’s on her own as far as finances go.

Lewis, the new vet in town, took over the animal clinic and is in the process of revitalizing it. When Olive meets the new vet, sparks immediately fly. He offers her a job at his clinic, which she gladly accepts.  However, the big draw back is Lewis has a personal rule not to date employees, but Olive desperately needs to keep this job.

This is the third book in the Old Pine Cove series, but I can’t stress enough that it can be read on its own. Although the settings are the same small town, the characters are different. The couple from the previous book does make a cameo appearance but it’s more to give readers a chance to catch up with the characters, not to advance the storyline. Each storyline is contained within each book.

In For A Treat is a true “feel good” romantic comedy with genuinely good characters. Olive and Lewis are an easy couple to root for. It’s a quick read. The author has a wonderful talent to create characters that are realistic and people you can care about. She also has a great flair for humor and she brought a huge smile to this reader’s face at a time she needed one.

Sophie-Leigh Robbins has become my go-to author when I need something to lift my spirits. It’s a sweet romance with lovable characters.

  1. Sounds fun and sweet. I may read just to find out more about the hamster hotel. That's a new one! :D
