The Sunday Salon - April Wrap Up!

It's hard to believe but we've already completed four months of 2009. Time is really flying!

These are the books I read in April, all reviews are posted on my blog.

Even Cat Sitters Get the Blues by Blaize Clement
The Guy Not Taken by Jennifer Weiner (audio)
Jantsen's Gift by Pam Cope
Murder of a Real Bad Boy by Denise Swanson
The Tygrine Cat by Inbali Iserles
Murder of a Botoxed Blond by Denise Swanson
The Day I Ate Whatever I Wanted by Elizabeth Berg (audio)
Dirty Deeds by Suzanne Price

I enjoyed all of them. It was a great reading month for me.

May has begun for me with "20 Boy Summer" by Sarah Ockler. I'm doing this for a review and enjoying it very much. What's really strange for me is that this is a young adult book and I never read YA. However, that's going to change with this book. I never realized just how good this genre is.

In the car, I'm listening to Blue Smoke and Mirrors by Elizabeth Lowell. It's a suspense and really very good, too. It's been a long time since I read a Lowell book, but she rarely ever disappoints.

I did a little update of all my reading challenges and where I stand with them...

1) Themed Reading Challenge - Need to read 1 more.
2) Audio Reading Challenge - Need to listen to 2 more.
3) Harlequin/Silhouette Reading Challenge - Need to read 1 more.
4) Romance Readers Challenge - Need to read 4 more.
5) Suspense and Thriller Reading Challenge - Need to read 9 more.
6) A to Z Reading Challenge - Need to read 10 more.
7) Amateur Sleuth Challenge - Need to read 6 more.
8) Books into Movies Challenge - Need to read 1 more.
9) Chick Lit Challenge - Need to read 10 more (haven't even started this one yet)
10) Cozy Myster Reading Challenge - Need to read 2 more.
11) Mystery Reader Cafe Challenge - Need to read 4 more.
12) On the Porch Swinging Challenge - Need to read 4 more.
13) Paranormal Reading Challenge - Need to read 2 more.
14) Read Your Own Book Reading Challenge - Need to read 3 more.
15) Romance Club Reading Challenge - Need to read 4 more.
16) Series Reading Challenge - Need to read 3 more.
17) TBR Lite Reading Challenge - Need to read 5 more.
18) Third Time is the Charm Challenge - Need to read 3 more.

Alot of challenges, I know :) Some I haven't even started yet. I had intended to not accept any reviews this year so I can concentrate on the challenges, but that didn't last long. LOL I couldn't resist accepting the reviews and some of them can be used for the challenges too. The important thing - whether it's a review or a challenge read, I'm having alot of fun and getting alot of reading in.

Hope you all have a great week.

  1. Well done on your reading achievements this month. You look like you are doing well in all of your challenges and we are only four months in.

  2. Serious AWWWW factor with the pic :-)

The Day I Ate Whatever I Wanted sounds like a wonderful book.... or, at least a wonderful day ;-) I have Open House, also by Elizabeth Berg, on Mt. TBR but have yet to get to it.

I don't know how you keep track of all those challenges! I'm only doing one, and that's the 75 book challenge. I looked at the 888 one, but it was too complicated. The Paranormal Reading Challenge sounds fun, though :-D

  3. Wow, so do challenges ever seem overwhelming? I have never done one, bit to undisciplined and a slow reader. Really love the puppy/kitten image!

  6. Scrap Girl - That's true. I still have 8 more months to finish challenges in, although a couple of them end sooner than December 31st.

thekoolaidman - I have some Elizabeth Berg books in my TBR. The audio was fun and she seems like a good author that I'll enjoy. As for the challenges, it really is getting a bit difficult to keep track of them all. I didn't think it would be hard to keep track, but it's getting a bit overwhelming.

Book Pusher - Yes, it can be overwhelming for me with these challenges. I'm a slow reader and some of the books are good for more than one challenge, which is a help. Still, I'm only doing this for fun and I'm guessing that I won't be able to complete them all.

Blodeuedd - I had a difficult time turning down any challenge. LOL I do think I won't complete all of them, but that's okay.

Desert Rose - Thank you! :)

After some careful consideration, I've decided to become an award-free blog. Although I appreciate and am honored by each and every award I've received, your comments and friendship are enough award for me. Thank you all so much for your thoughtfulness.
