This week’s musing asks…

Do you have a favorite series? Do you have a favorite book out of that series?

My answer...

Yes! I love series books, I always have. The only problem is, with my reviewing schedule, I haven't actually had time to complete them and I'm behind on all of them. However, here are the ones that I love the most...

Cedar Cove series by Debbie Macomber
Women's Murder Club by James Patterson
Scumble River Mysteries by Denise Swanson
The Chocoholic Mysteries by Joanna Carl
Joe Grey Mysteries by Shirley Rousseau Murphy
Mrs. Murphy series by Rita Mae Brown
Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich

I don't really have any favorite book from each series, but with the Patterson and Evanovich books, I did prefer the earlier ones in the series to the more recent ones.

  1. I like books that have the same characters but aren't really series. The character can be a major one in one book, and a minor one in another - like Emily Giffen's books

  2. I mentioned Cedar Cover, too; and your answer triggered another favorite for me. I love Patterson's Women's Murder Club.

I think I also read one of Rite Mae Brown's Mrs. Murphy books.

  3. a couple there that I have read some in.
I used to be a Plum fan, but gave up on it at some point..

    My Muse

  4. I have read some of the series you mentioned. But I have given up on some of the series I started, because after a while they just fizzled out on their own, and I moved on to something else. Now days I prefer books with a beginning and ending all in one book.

  5. Ow James Patterson. I never have enough time to give those books the attention they deserve. You named some good ones there.

    My MM

  6. I've read one or two books from the series you mentioned. Some are new to me :)

    Here's my musing:

  7. I'm definitely a series reader, too. My current favorite is Penny's Inspector Gamache series.

  8. Series can be a lot of fun! Now that I am a book blogger, it has become harder to keep up with books in series.

  9. My favorite cozy mysteries are series with the same characters that have wonderful adventures in each new book. I read series first in order as I prefer series. My favs are currently:
    Shiela Connelly-Orchard series-Just excellent!
Perri O'Shaughnessy Nina Riley Series-Sublime writing
Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich-fun escape
Booktown Series by Loretta Barett (she has 3 series under different names all fabulous)
Ashton corners Books Club Mystery series by Erika Chase. This is brand new and very well done , the 2nd is soon to be released.
Bewitching mysteries by Madelyn Alt-Good writing fun enjoying sense of humor and good mystery buids throughout each book with a touch of magic. Divine!
I found the best cozy series I have read in a long time-
    "Molly Doyle Mystery series" by
Elaine Flinn. They take place in Carmel with a very smart independent women who runs a antique store.
Book binder series by Kate Carlisle set in San Francisco with another smart independent women.
Hannah Reed Honey Bee Series-very good can't wait for the next.
Pie series by Ellery Adams-great fun and receipes
    Anette Blair vintage Magic Series
Dog Crime series by Melissa Cleary-Very good!
Kinsey Malone by Sue Grafton-a fabulous series.
Haunted revovations series by Juliet Blackwell

And of course-Michael Connelly Jane Whitefield series is wonderful but not a cozy, a definite good series
