Book Beginnings on Fridays/The Friday 56 - August 3rd

This is a fun meme to do hosted by Freda's Voice. If you'd like to join on the fun go to The Friday 56.

Rules:
*Grab a book, any book.
*Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader.
*Find any sentence that grabs you.
*Post it.
*Link it here.

It's that simple.

I'm also joining in Book Beginnings on Friday. It's hosted by Rose City Reader.

This is one of the cozy mysteries I'm reading this week...

Beginnings...

On the day she died, Bitsy Howell didn't want to get out of bed. Her bedroom was cold, for one thing. It was always cold, thanks to her landlady, Mrs. Withers, who turned the heat down to fifty-five degrees every night to save money on heating oil. It didn't matter one bit to Mrs. Withers that it was the coldest winter in twenty years.

What had she gotten herself into? Being a library director was a bigger responsibility than she thought.

  3. Maybe Bitsy shouldn't have gotten out of bed?
    Hope you enjoy it.

  4. I used to turn the heat down to 55 at night. I don't do it now because my pets have gotten old and I feel that's too cold for them. See what we are featuring at Girl Who Reads

  5. Leslie Meier's books haven't worked for me so far but I do love the Valentine's cover! That beginning made me feel very sorry for Bitsy. I hate being cold.

After some careful consideration, I've decided to become an award-free blog. Although I appreciate and am honored by each and every award I've received, your comments and friendship are enough award for me. Thank you all so much for your thoughtfulness.

Due to way too many spam comments, I disabled the Anonymous User comments. We'll see if this works, otherwise I'll have to go back to word verification.
