Book Beginnings on Fridays/The Friday 56 - August 24th

This is a fun meme to do hosted by Freda's Voice. If you'd like to join on the fun go to The Friday 56.

Rules:
*Grab a book, any book.
*Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader.
*Find any sentence that grabs you.
*Post it.
*Link it here.

It's that simple.

I'm also joining in Book Beginnings on Friday. It's hosted by Rose City Reader.

I'm hoping to read this one soon...

Beginnings......

The sound of a crash startled Hannah Swensen awake. It was the middle of the night, she lived alone, and someone was in her condo. She sat up and grabbed the first thing handy, her goose-down pillow, before her sleep-numbed mind realized that it wasn't a very effective weapon.

Friday 56...

From 6% on my Kindle...

What kind of burglar would break into her home and take a break for a late-night snack?

  1. I love the Hannah Swensen books, although I've only read a couple. I've mostly watched the Murder She Baked series on Hallmark. When I see Hannah in those movies, I think of Sami Brady, LOL.

I also love strawberry shortcake! Here's mine: “MR. FLOOD’S LAST RESORT”

  2. This has long since been one of my favorite cozy mystery series. My one complaint, I wish she'd start putting most of the recipes in the back of the book. I lose my reading mojo when I have to keep skipping past them every other chapter. But I do love Hannah! I'd love for you and your readers to check out my book for this week! https://tinyurl.com/LisaKsBookReviews82418

  4. I have the first in this series on my calendar but it keeps getting pushed farther and farther as it is preempted by review books. This week I am featuring Second Chance on Two Love Lane by Kieran Kramer from my review stack. Happy reading!

  5. I would agree that a pillow is not a good weapon. This sounds like a fun book. My Friday Quotes and review of SPEAK

  6. This was a cute book. I should look for more in this series. I made one of the cookie recipes and they were yummy. See what I'm featuring at Girl Who Reads

After some careful consideration, I've decided to become an award-free blog. Although I appreciate and am honored by each and every award I've received, your comments and friendship are enough award for me. Thank you all so much for your thoughtfulness.

Due to way too many spam comments, I disabled the Anonymous User comments. We'll see if this works, otherwise I'll have to go back to word verification.
