Every Tuesday Vicki at I'd Rather Be At the Beach hosts First Chapter First Paragraph Tuesday Intros, where we share the first paragraph or (a few) of a book we are reading or thinking about reading soon. Care to join us?
Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, now being hosted by Ambrosia at The Purple Booker. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
* Grab your current read
* Open to a random page
* Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
This week I'm reading...
First Chapter...
Poppy frantically banged on the door of the house, but there was no answer. She waited a few moments and then tried again.
Still no answer.
A foreboding sense of dread filled her entire body. She had learned at a very young age to trust her intuition.
And she instinctively knew something was seriously wrong.
Teaser...
She had never felt such a strong sense of imminent danger.
What do you think? Would you keep reading?
Sounds like a character who relies on her intuition. This week I am featuring Wild Hunger by Chloe Neill. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteSounds like an entertaining whodunit! I hope you're enjoying it, Yvonne. My TT this week is all about fighting monsters - https://sjhigbee.wordpress.com/2018/08/07/teaser-tuesday-6th-august-2018-brainfluffbookblog-teasertuesday/
ReplyDeleteI get that same feeling when knocking on doors...I used to get that feeling a lot when "cold calling" on clients. It's never a good thing when nobody answers the door!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy...and thanks for sharing. Here's mine: “WHISTLE IN THE DARK”
I like it all, including the cover. I'm interested in reading this one.
ReplyDeleteI've always said that one should go with your intuition!
ReplyDeleteHere is mine: https://woabookreviews.wordpress.com/2018/08/07/first-chapter-first-paragraph-tuesday-week-2/
Ominous intro - I like it!
ReplyDeleteThe cover is perfect for the opening. I'm thinking maybe the sign being crooked might represent her sense of something wrong.
