First Chapter Tuesday/Teaser Tuesday - August 28th

Every Tuesday Vicki at I'd Rather Be At the Beach hosts First Chapter First Paragraph Tuesday Intros, where we share the first paragraph or (a few) of a book we are reading or thinking about reading soon. Care to join us?

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, now being hosted by Ambrosia at The Purple Booker. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

* Grab your current read
* Open to a random page
* Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This week I'm reading...

First Chapter...

It was six-thirty at night and Elizabeth Adams was still at her desk.  The newsroom was comparatively quiet - the usual cacophony of clattering typewriter keys absent for the time being.

How was she ever going to explain to her friends that her daughter was not only working - she said the word as if it left a foul taste in her mouth - but working for some ghastly newspaper.

What do you think? Would you keep reading?

  1. It sounds interesting. I'd be curious read more. My Teaser

  2. It certainly sets the scene well. I do like the cover, too!

    Here's my Tuesday post: http://bit.ly/TeaserTues6

    Have a great week!

  3. I like the combination of the first paragraph and the teaser. I think this would be fun to read.

  4. I did keep reading. I enjoyed this historical mystery. This week I have a science fiction/alternate history story - Her Majesty's American by Steve White. Happy reading!

  5. It's off to a good start, I'd keep going.

  6. Fun cover art; I think this might be a good read; thanks for sharing.

  7. Actually, the cover is puling me in.

  8. I have a ton of Peg Cochran's books but this is a new one to me. It sounds really good!
