My Review

This is the fifth book in the Adventures of John and Julia Evans series.  It’s not just one story, but four different short ones involving John and Julia’s daughters.

The Treasure Hunt

John and Julia’s daughter and son-in-law, April and Matthew, have a great idea for a family vacation.  They saw a professor’s blog post discussing a treasure chest and people looking for it.  They want the Evans family to take a chance and search for the treasure themselves.  At the same time, they get to spend some quality family time together.

The Heist

Twin sisters, Sharlene and Faith Evans, are training to be FBI agents.  They are given their first assignment to work together.  Valuable paintings have been stolen from a museum and they are assigned to find the thieves.

The Case of the Missing Penguin

When a penguin goes missing from a petting zoo, Sharlene and Faith are on the case to find it.  It’s up to them to figure out who is behind this theft.

Devollyn’s Last Request

The final story in this anthology finds Julia Evans face-to-face with her longtime nemesis, Devollyn.  He asks her for a favor.  With the help of Sharlene and Faith, Julia tries to fulfill it and are shocked at what they discover.

These four short stories are clean, sweet, cozy mysteries.  Readers of Linda Weaver Clarke’s books will recognize some old favorite characters making an appearance.  It’s like re-visiting old friends.  I enjoyed catching up with them.

The mysteries are not complex and are not gory murders.  They are more like puzzles to be figured out.  I enjoyed playing detective along with the Evans family.  I especially enjoyed getting to know the twins, Sharlene and Faith, as we watch them grow up and become FBI agents.

The author has a knack for telling stories and keeping me captivated.  My one complaint about the book is that it went by too fast.  I wanted more.   This is a charming, delightful way to spend an afternoon.  I hope the author continues writing more episodes in the Adventures of John and Julia Evans.  Maybe even giving Sharlene and Faith their own series (hint, hint).  I know there are many more stories to be told.
