The Weekend Review - July 31st-August 2nd

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now being hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to  Stacking The Shelves which is hosted by Reading Reality.

Hi Everyone!

Welcome to August!  I'm pretty sure it was just yesterday we were welcoming July and now here's August.  It's just crazy how fast the year is going.

I only completed one book this week, but I completed two of my reading challenges and I'm more than halfway through my Goodreads goal.  I'm doing much better this year than last year.  So, I'm happy about that.  I have to put a hold on listening to audio books as the weather is just too hot and humid for me to even try to walk.

If you are interested in discussing cat mysteries and cozy mysteries in general, I just started a new email group.  It's a great place to discover more cat mysteries and have fun discussions.  We are also starting monthly book discussions (our first one starts August 15th) and we also even talk about our real life cats.

Here's the link to check it out....

Aside from doing some blogging, I'm looking forward to catching up on my reading this weekend.  I hope everyone has a great weekend and a great week!

  2. I'm reading more this year, but I'm not reading as carefully as I have in the past. I want to slow down and enjoy my books more.

We are trying to get up and walk at 6:45 in the morning several days a week. We are supposed to be getting a cool front next week. Doesn't that sound great?!

You are the expert on cat mysteries. I love it that you are forming a group to talk about these.

  3. Good that your starting on a new group. I have been involved in so many groups this year its amazing. In the past, all my short stories have been based on things that have happened to me "in person" but now they are beginning to be about things and interactions with people "on zoom." funny

  8. I just started Death in Castle Dark and am enjoying it! It is definitely too hot and humid to walk! I've been trying to work in audio books into other things to get my listening in which can be a challenge! Congrats on making such progress on your goals! This has definitely been a better reading year for me as well. Have a wonderful week.

  10. Hi Yvonne. I love how diverse the Cozy mystery genre is. I love that there are so many cat cozies out there to satisfy your niche. I've become a Cozy paranormal mystery fan and love how many there are of them out there.
I hope the weather cools soon so you can enjoy your audiobook walks.
    Have a great week.

  12. I'm reading a ton this year -- but I'm with you on taking walks. It's really been either too hot or too rainy.

  13. I enjoyed Death in Castle Dark and hope you do too. Besides being hot and muggy, smoke from Canada's wildfires is keeping me indoors. I do listen to audiobooks while playing computer games though. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
