This week’s musing asks…
Do you set goals for yourself, while reading? For example, "I want to get this book finished this weekend", or "I will read __ pages today", etc. Why, or why not?
My answer... Yes, I do set reading goals mainly because of the review requests and blog tours. I'm trying so hard to catch up on all the review requests that I have that I feel as if I have to have a goal, such as "I'll finish this one this weekend." It doesn't always work, but I try.
I have a calendar that I use to track what I'm going to read each month (I never read all that's listed, but at least it shows me what needs to be done.) This is extremely hard for a moody reader like me. I like to decide what to read based on how I'm feeling. I do hope I'll eventually get back to that.
How about you? Do you have reading goals?

Thank you for stopping by and visiting my blog! I always love reading comments and getting to know my readers!
After some careful consideration, I've decided to become an award-free blog. Although I appreciate and am honored by each and every award I've received, your comments and friendship are enough award for me. Thank you all so much for your thoughtfulness.
Due to way too many spam comments, I disabled the Anonymous User comments. We'll see if this works, otherwise I'll have to go back to word verification.

It's hard when you have a pile of books you're expected to read.. When reading becomes homework, it's not as much fun..
ReplyDeleteHere's mine @ Realms of an Open Mind
Happy Reading :)
I would get too stressed out if I tried to read on a schedule. That's why I haven't accepted book tours or reviews.
ReplyDeleteI am retired, so therefore I have more time for reading, and I read for my own entertainment, but I still set little goals for myself. I agree with Keely reading should be fun, not work.
ReplyDeleteReading is what I wanna do. With or without goals!
ReplyDeleteHere is my post.
See the calendar ..that is where the trouble begins! No deadlines,no goals I say!
ReplyDeleteI imagine my answer would be similar to yours. I am not a big deadline person, but I do enjoy being a part of the occasional tour (I only agree to a tour if it's a book I really want to read). As a result, I sometimes do have to set reading goals. They are very loose though. I also like doing challenges, which involves goal setting as well. Even with those, more often than not, I try to fit in reading time whenever I can manage it!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the cats pics and book reviews! My site is similar, it would be great if you checked me out at http://threecatsandagirl.blogspot.com. I also have 3 cats and lots of cute pics on there! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm following you now. Cheers! Sarah
