Spotlight/Interview/Giveaway: Owning Violet by Monica Murphy

About the Book

Genre: Contemporary Romance, #1 in The Fowler Sisters Series
Publisher: Bantam
Release Date: December 2014

Synopsis from Goodreads...

New York Times bestselling author Monica Murphy begins a sexy new contemporary romance series—perfect for fans of Christina Lauren and Emma Chase—that introduces three sisters born to wealth, raised to succeed, ready to love, destined to make waves.

I’ve moved through life doing what’s expected of me. I’m the middle daughter, the dutiful daughter. The one who braved a vicious attack and survived. The one who devoted herself to her family’s business empire. The one who met an ambitious man and fell in love. We were going to run Fleur Cosmetics together, Zachary and I.

Until he got a promotion and left me in the dust. Maybe it’s for the best, between his disloyalty and his wandering eye. But another man was waiting for me. Wanting me. He too has an overwhelming thirst for success, just like Zachary—perhaps even more so. He’s also ruthless. And mysterious. I know nothing about Ryder McKay beyond that he makes me feel things I’ve never felt before.

One stolen moment, a kiss, a touch . . . and I’m hooked. Ryder’s like a powerful drug, and I’m an addict who doesn’t want to be cured. He tells me his intentions aren’t pure, and I believe him. For once, I don’t care. I’m willing to risk everything just to be with him. Including my heart. My soul.

My everything.

Author Interview

I would like to welcome author Monica Murphy to Socrates’ Book Review Blog. Monica is beginning a new series of books based on the “Fowler Sisters”. The first book is Owning Violet. We are very happy to have her visit our little blog.

Thank you so much for having me!

1) What made you decide to be an author?

I was always a big reader. When I was a teen a found a bunch of my mom's romance books in the hall closet and I devoured them. I realized pretty soon after that I wanted to do something like that someday - write a romance book. Eventually (as in many years later) I did. And I kept writing. And now it's my career! I feel lucky that I do something I really love.

2) Do you have a favorite genre to read and write?

I'm predominantly a romance reader and I prefer to write contemporary romance. I read all sorts of romances and I've been going on a binge of reading YAs lately, especially thrillers. The darker, the better.

3) Who is your greatest influence in your writing career?

There's no one specific person. I think all of my friends, my fellow writers I know and share information with, they are all huge influences on me. There are a lot of smart, fun, awesome women in the romance community and I'm so thankful I can call a lot of them my friends. They're so supportive! We take care of each other.

4) How did it feel when you first found out you were going to be published?

It was an amazing feeling! Then I had to take care of my kids and get them out of the tub. That's how this business is. The first time I found out I hit the USA Today list I was like OMG! Then I had to go finish the laundry. LOL

5) Do you have one all time favorite book?

No, that's too hard to pick! There are so many books I love...

6) Can you give us a sneak peek at your next release?

STEALING ROSE is the second book in The Fowler Sisters series and it comes out March 3rd, 2015. It's about Rose, the youngest Fowler sister, and the mysterious man she meets and soon falls for. It's a lighter book - the hero, Caden, isn't as dark as Ryder from OWNING VIOLET but he still has his issues. He's fun though. Fun and sexy. *winks*

Thank you so much for visiting us, Monica!

Again, thank you for having me and for asking such great questions. :)
