The Weekend Review - September 21st-23rd

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now being hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to Stacking the Shelves which is hosted by Reading Reality.

Hi Everyone!

Another week is over and another week closer to October.  Although it's always summer in Florida, I still enjoy reading seasonal books and I'm hoping to do that this year.

I managed to finish three books this week.  All were good ones.

The new TV season has started.  I watched the start of the new Survivor season.  It's good but it always takes me some time to get used to the new cast.  I started two new shows High Potential and The Penguin.  I really liked both of them so I'll be sticking with them.  I have a couple of new shows set up to record a reboot of Matlock with Kathy Bates.  I always like her work.  Doctor Odyssey with Joshua Jackson.  I always like his work too.  I'm also watching a new limited series on Netflix called Monsters.  So, far it's been really good.

I'd love to hear what you are all reading and watching.  I hope you all have a great week.

These are the books I'm planning to read for the rest of September and October.

Here is this week's Kindle freebie haul.  They were freebies when I got them, I don't know if they still are. Always make sure to check they are still free before buying. The prices change quickly.

  1. I'm not planning to watch the new Matlock at the moment. But if I hear lots of good things about it, I'll go back and give it a try.

And I'm happy to see someone else say it takes a while to get used to the new cast on Survivor. There are so many and we're just meeting them. I feel like I don't truly remember everyone until the merge.

  2. I'm a big Netflix fan and that keeps me from reading more books. I enjoyed The Accident, The Perfect Couple with Nicole Kidman, and a creepy but good The Frog. I'm also into K dramas and J dramas. Have a great week.

  3. I haven't watched regular tv show line up in what feels like ages. We went total streaming and mostly the free apps (a few we pay) so I don't even have a clue what new shows are coming out...lol. I did know about the Matlock and I just get tired of them trying to revamp old favorites. I like Kathy Bates but I won't watch it.
I think the one show I am going to watch for the season isn't new but on Hulu and that is X-files, very seasonally appropriate...lol.

Hope you enjoy your new shows! (Penguin looks interesting but I don't get that channel)

Have a great week and happy reading!

  4. We have been watching a new to us series called Burn Notice. Apparently it came out in 2007 but we had not heard of it.
It's still hot in my part of Florida too but like you, I like seasonal books....and hot soup too. :-)

  5. Looks like a successful reading week! Lots of good looking ones coming up. I'm hoping to get the Richard Osman one for Christmas.

We are struggling to find things to watch but I am watching Only Murders In The Building on Disney+. There are some things coming up later in October that I'm looking forward to.

Have a great week next week!

  6. Summer always goes into overtime here along the Texas Gulf Coast, but we do look forward to fall and spring, although they never stay as long as we might wish.

    Enjoy your new tv season!

  8. We mostly only watch cooking shows or animal shows. But we did try Bosch this week as I've always wanted to watch it. I posted reviews this weekend for two really cozy kind of books - Rewitched and The Village Library Demon-hunting Society I enjoyed..

  9. This year I'm watching Big Brother, Survivor, Amazing Race and adding Outlast for the first time.

I haven't heard of High Potential, The Penguin, Monster or Doctor Odyssey so I'll look them up. Matlock is on my list because I loved everything I've ever seen Bates in and loved the old Matlock.
