This week's question...
Do you give books as gifts?
To everyone? Or only to select people?
How do you feel about receiving books as gifts?
My answer...
No, I don't give books as gifts. I don't really have anyone who would appreciate a book as a gift. I would rather receive a gift card to a bookstore then actually get a book. People don't know what I might already have and what I really like. I enjoy getting the giftcard and going on a book spending spree...browsing the aisles and aisles of books. That's part of the fun for me.

I agree browsing is so much fun!
ReplyDeleteI like getting the physical book, but I also love book gift cards.
ReplyDeleteI love getting gift cards, too. It's not only a present, but an excuse to putz around a bookstore. :)
ReplyDeleteAw, you've never had the joy of holding a present that FEELS like a book, opening it up to discover your favorite author's newest work. How sad.
ReplyDeletegift cards are a good thing too, this way you can pick which book you really want :)

Scobberlotcher - Exactly - I love any excuse to check out the bookstores!
ReplyDeleteSmilingsal - Not sad at all. I have received books in the past and none of them were anything I was interested in (sometimes I wondered if the giver even knew anything about me! LOL) I much prefer the giftcards for the reason I said above - an excuse to look through the bookstore. Nothing makes me happier :)
Naida - That's exactly how I feel!
I have quite a few readers in my family and try and get them books now and then--or gift cards if it's more convenient. When I know a person's tastes well, I love finding books for them. It's much harder when it's someone I don't know well.
