Today's question: Have you ever used the Swap This Book function which can be found on the main page of any book (here is an example of Flirting With Forty by Jane Porter: link shown on book page, what it looks like if you click on the link)? If so, what do you think about it? If not, are there any other swap sites you utilize to exchange books once you are done? What do you do with your books if you no longer want them anymore?
My answer: I've never noticed this function on LT before, but I always swap books when I'm done. Very few books are keepers for me, mainly because of a lack of space plus I never re-read a book anyway. I use Paperback Swap (I love that site) and sometimes Bookmooch (but not often). I used to take them to a UBS, but they don't take the older series books like Harlequins or Silhouettes so I end up putting everything on PBS. Also, it's not a one-for-one trade at the UBS and it is on the PBS and Bookmooch.
Do you belong to any of the book swap sites out there?

Thank you for stopping by and visiting my blog! I always love reading comments and getting to know my readers!
After some careful consideration, I've decided to become an award-free blog. Although I appreciate and am honored by each and every award I've received, your comments and friendship are enough award for me. Thank you all so much for your thoughtfulness.
Due to way too many spam comments, I disabled the Anonymous User comments. We'll see if this works, otherwise I'll have to go back to word verification.

I would say I keep about 1 out of every 7 books or so. Not because I think I'll ever read them again (though I might someday) but because I like to loan them out or look back at certain passages.
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried any of the swap sites, but I do think they look like a good idea. I'm just afraid I'd end up getting more books than I manage to get rid of - I seem to have a real talent for that!
ReplyDeleteI have not done book swaps. I give my books that I read to my mom and she takes them to her local used bookstore.
ReplyDeleteI hope you don't mind but I tagged you. Visit my blog http://readingmama.blogspot.com to see what it is about. I hope you play along.

I was not familiar with the LT swap feature before this question was asked. I admit that I am more of a book keeper than anything else, but occasionally I do give away books or trade them privately.
ReplyDeleteLol - I've got to start finding a way to get rid of a few books, and will most likely swap via PBS. I haven't tried BookMooch yet as I don't fully understand it. That said, I simply LOVE PBS. I'm finding that I can swap some of my older books for some Disney Read Along books for my 2 year old! They are at Target for $9.00, so I feel pretty good about the trade!
ReplyDeleteThanks for participating in Tuesday Thingers last week! I’ve got this week’s posted now. ~ Wendi :)
