The Weekend Review - December 26th-28th

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now being hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to  Stacking The Shelves which is hosted by Team Tynga's Reviews.

Hi Everyone!

I hope all those who celebrate Christmas had a lovely one.  Temps here in Florida have been below normal these past couple of days, but since I've only lived here for a year, it feels fine to me :)

It's hard to believe this is the last Weekend Review of 2020.  I know many of us won't be sorry to see this year end.  At this time last year, who would have thought we'd be going through what we have gone through.  Hopefully, 2021 will be better and the vaccines are sure a good place to start to get back to normal...or the "new normal".  I'm not quite sure just yet.

During the week I will post a year end review and my top reads of the year.  I noticed I seem to be leaning more and more towards thriller and suspense books.  Not a bad thing at all...so many good ones out there.  I will also do a 2020 Reading Challenge wrap up to close up all my challenges...whether completed or not, but I still have a week to go so I'm not ready to do any of these posts yet :)

I watched a couple of movies.  On Netflix I saw George Clooney's new one The Midnight Sky.  It was pretty good.  I also watched Wonder Woman 1984 which was cute.  I'm still watching The Flight Attendant and, also, started Snowpiercer.  Both are good shows.

Not too much else is happening here.  Just having some quiet time.  Hope you all have a great week!

  1. You have a great selection of books. I also enjoyed The Flight Attendant, and today I started watching a suspense series called Winter, a crime show.

I hope you enjoy your week and your books!

  2. Hope you had a great holiday! I've been leaning towards suspenseful reads/ thrillers all year for some reason. Maybe escapism from the real world which is worse hahaha! :):)

We watched Midnight Sky too! I've heard Snowpiercer is good.

  3. I hope your celebrations were wonderful, Yvonne. Yeah, I sure am happy to see the end of 2020 - I just hope 2021 will be nicer to us all. If I can get vaccinated, I sure will. I haven't seen my mom in over a year due to the fact that we live in different countries...
Have a wonderful week ahead :)

  6. Hope you are having a good rest as well and enjoying those kittens! Did they behave over Christmas? Elza almost landed on the naughty corner, but then I felt too sorry for her.

I promise to do my link-ups for the reading challenges for next year this week!

Hope you will have a good one...

  7. I think a lot of people have been leaning toward reading suspense these days. I'm glad you've been enjoying it.

I've saved a bit from the paper about Midnight Sky and taped it to the calendar to remind me to watch it. Right now we are hooked on listening to an audiobook, Ready Player One.

I eagerly look forward to your end-of-the-year reviews!

  9. I think my taste in books has changed a bit this year and that is okay too. I think sometimes we go through phases or at least I do...lol. I remember at one time I only read romance and now I hardly read them at all...lol.

Have a great week and happy new year!

  12. Yvonne, I hope you had a lovely Christmas and I am definitely one of those people looking forward to bidding 2020 goodbye! I wish you and yours a joyous and hopeful 2021! 🎆

  13. I think this will be a fun two weeks as we read bloggers wrap-ups and goals for 2021. I saw WW84 and thought it was just ok, compared to the first movie. Seems this one was geared to a younger audience.

  15. We just watched a trailer for Clooney's new movie and thought it looked good. I want to watch Wonder Woman 1984 but we don't have HBO. I may have to pay for a month of it so we can watch that and a few other things.

Happy New Year! Enjoy your week!

  16. I want to watch Snowpiercer, but my hubby has no interest in it. I am definitely glad to see the year end. XO

  17. I think suspense and thriller books are great especially when in a bit of a reading slump. While not either, the Susan Mallery book did perk up my reading appetite.

  18. I watched WW84 too... The Flight Attendant keeps being recommended to me but I don't think it's available in the UK yet.

I hope you have a happy new year! I've no idea what it'll bring but it can't be any worse than this past year, right? *knocks on wood*

  19. We had a quite but enjoyable christmas too, and here's very much to a better and safer 2021. You have a great looking selection of books. I'm wanting to read more genres so I will read some of your thriller reviews for inspiration. Happy reading!

  20. If I had to characterize my reading for 2020, it would be as the year I discovered audiobooks and reread lots of old favorite series. I have totaled up yet to see if it is true though. Come see my week here. Happy reading and happy new year!

  22. I see quite a few upcoming books that will be going on my TBR list. Enjoy this last week and I agree 2021 has got to be better!!!

  23. I heard it had been cold in Florida. Hopefully it warms up.

Your books look great. I saw one recent review for Marion Lane and the Midnight Murder, so eager to read your thoughts.

Wishing you a happy and healthy 2021.
