The Weekend Review - December 5th-7th

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now being hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to  Stacking The Shelves which is hosted by Team Tynga's Reviews.

Hi Everyone!

It's kind of been a busy week for me.  It started off with my birthday.  My  husband took me out to a delicious Italian meal and I bought myself a birthday gift.  It's a nutty gift, but I thought it was cute.

Then, the week got even more crazy.  As you guys know I've been sad since losing Cookie and Trudy this year.  No one can ever replace them, but I knew I needed to welcome someone knew in my life.  So, we went to an animal rescue and found two kittens.  They are the cutest things.  So tiny - 12 weeks.  We didn't intend to adopt two, but they were together as litter mates and so close, we couldn't separate them.  We adopted both of them.  They are still quite scared and tentative, so I don't have pics yet, but I will be posting in the very near future.  My other cat Kit doesn't really know what to make of all this craziness.

As for reading, I finished three books somehow.  I enjoyed them all and reviews will be posted soon.  I've still been enjoying my TV shows, but now most are off until January, although Blue Bloods is back but I haven't watched it yet.

Well, that was my exciting week.  So, what has your week been like?  I hope you all have a great week!

  4. There were so many unfortunate cats out there that you did what was right. Your beloved cats can never be replaced, but I have no doubt those two will be happy with you. I'm dying to see the pictures ! And lol for the action doll, I love it :D

  5. Lol - I've just shouted with laughter at the sight of your crazy cat lady action figure - complete with cats!! Belated Happy Birthday congrats - and the kittens sound lovely. I think it's wonderful that you took both of them, given the upheaval they have already experienced... Have a great week, Yvonne:))

  6. We haven't had cats in 8 years since we downsized and did a lot of travelling. However, no travel in our forecast at the moment. Husband is making hints about cats, but I am not listening!!

  8. That does sound like an exciting week! Happy Belated Birthday to you! 🥳 And I hope your new furry friends settle in well. 😊

Nothing that exciting has been happening for me I'm afraid. We're still in the toughest restrictions where I live, however the shops have opened so I got some Christmas shopping done and started putting my decorations up, which was nice.🎄

Take care in the coming week, happy reading and kitten cuddling!🙂

  9. You have had a busy week! Happy birthday! I love what you bought with your birthday money. Crazy Cat Lady is fabulous, though I think you may need to acquire more cats for her somehow. Six doesn't seem like enough!

Oh, and I am so jealous that you have two new kittens. I love cats so much. I've been trying to talk my husband into a cat or two (or three) but he is having nothing to do with that idea.

We bought The Big Book of Christmas Mysteries today for my husband and my sister-in-law. It was on special at Amazon.

  13. Yay for new kitties! I totally understand needing to welcome some more into the family especially after losses. They don't replace but they certainly help heal. Looking forward to pictures once they're settled. :)

  15. Happy birthday!!! Sounds like you had a nice celebration. That action figure is too funny.

Congratulations on the new furry friends. That happened to use once--went to the shelter for a new cat and wound up with two. They are both gone now, but the last two times we got kittens they were in pairs.

Great books this week. A Whisker of a Doubt and The Shell Shop caught my eye. Enjoy!

  18. Happy Belated Birthday! I love your gift to yourself. That is too funny. :-)

I hope the new kittens are fitting in well. I can't wait to see photos, Yvonne. As you said, they can't replace Trudy and Cookie, but they can fill your heart with love and ease some of the ache and bring you comfort.

    Enjoy your weekend!
