The Weekend Review - January1st-3rd - Happy New Year!

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now being hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to  Stacking The Shelves which is hosted by Reading Reality.

Hi Everyone and Happy New Year!

I hope 2022 will be a great year for all of us.  The past two have been difficult to say the least.

I finished two books in the last week of 2021.  Both really good.  I started 2022 with a book that's already grabbed my attention.  I can see I'm going to be reading late into the night with this one, My Darling Husband by Kimberly Belle.  I knew this one would be a good one.

For New Year's Eve we went for an early dinner to a local Japanese Hibachi restaurant.  We've never been to it before but have wanted to go.  So, we figured why not do it on New Year's Eve.  What delicious food.  We had the Hibachi steak, shrimp and chicken with fried rice and vegetables.  So good!  They cook the food at the table so it was a nice show too.  Then, we went home to watch the ball drop and welcome 2022.

Very sad end to the year with the death of Betty White.  Only two weeks before her 100th birthday.  I used to love watching her on the Mary Tyler Moore Show and the Golden Girls.  She will be missed.

I do hope 2022 will be kind to us and that we are all kind to each other.  I hope you all have a great week!  Stay safe!

  1. Happy New Year Yvonne. The first book looks great. I noticed that Laurel-Rain was intending to read that one at some point too. Yes what a legend Betty White was.

  2. Betty White's death really is such a shame, she was such a bright light. I'm also hoping 2022 will be kinder to everyone than the last few years. My Darling Husband does sound like an amazing read, I can see why it's got you captivated! And yay for delicious Japanese food, I'm definitely in the mood for some once restaurants open up here in the Netherlands again! I hope you have a lovely week :)

  3. Happy New Year! I don't think I've ever had Japanese food. I wish I knew someone who was an adventurous eater so I could go to cool restaurants. My family is boring. :)

  4. I bet you had fun at the restaurant. I remember the show they put on at the restaurant I visited like that long ago.

I think the idea of the camper mysteries is so much fun.

    Happy New Year, Yvonne!

  6. Happy New Year dearest Yvonne! May it be a good year for you filled with fun blog tours and wonderful books to read.

I still need to figure out what challenges I want to do. Maybe your Netgalley Challenge will work for me! I need to get my ratings up and to spend more time with Netgalley reads.

Have a good week and happy reading. Lots of love to the kitties!

  11. A book worth staying up for is the best. :-) I am glad your New Year has gotten off to a good start. Your dinner out on New Year's Eve sounds nice. We had plans to get together with friends but they fell through because one of the friends' families had a COVID exposure on Christmas--we all decided it was safer to postpone. I don't think my daughter was happy as she was looking forward to spending time with her friends, but both my husband and I didn't mind so much. We enjoy time with our friends but any excuse to stay home is welcome in our "old" age. LOL I hope you have a great week and Happy New Year!

  16. Happy new year! I squeezed in a couple of books before the end of the year as well.

I like hibachi. We used to have a really good one around here. They closed, which was a bummer.

I was so sad when I heard about Betty White. I truly hoped she would hit 100.

You are the second person I visited today that is reading My Darling Husband. Body in the Books caught my eye this week. Hope you enjoy all your books.

  19. I also have My Darling Husband waiting on my Kindle...after I finish my First Book of the Year. It was a toss-up as to which I should choose to read first.

The Japanese restaurant sounds so yummy! Now I want to find the one I used to visit.

    Have a great week!
