Teaser Tuesdays/First Chapter Tuesdays - January 27th

Every Tuesday Diane at Bibliophile By the Sea hosts First Chapter First Paragraph Tuesday Intros, where we share the first paragraph or (a few) of a book we are reading or thinking about reading soon. Care to join us?

If you'd like to play along on Teaser Tuesdays, just click the button above.

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

* Grab your current read
* Open to a random page
* Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

I'm going to start reading this soon...

First Chapter...

I awoke on a dirt floor. Head pounding. Disoriented. I was surrounded by darkness. I got to my knees and instinctively raised my hand to the back of my head. My skull was throbbing. What happened? I struggled to remember. I pushed myself up and stumbled back against a wall. It was cold and damp. I was in a fog and didn't know where I was.

There was a time, not long ago, that I thought I had experienced the worst life had to offer. I was laid off from work, two goons tried to kill me in a car chase, and my home was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy.

So, what do you think? Would you continue reading?

  1. The intro and teaser certainly do make one wonder. Mine: A Passage to India

  2. She sure was not having a good day.

  3. Great teaser. Yes, I would definitely read this one and on to the TBR pile it goes.

    Mine for the week: http://www.keeperbookshelf.com/teaser-tuesday-2

  4. I want to know what happened, but the writing seems a little choppy so far.

  5. I am definitely caught up in the scenario and wondering what is happening. Thanks for sharing...and enjoy.

    Here's mine: “THE WEDNESDAY GROUP”

  6. I'm intrigued and want to know what happens next. I'm not sure about the cover, but the story sounds like it will be a good one.

  7. Looking at the cover, I thought, this is not for me. When I read your teaser, I changed my mind. I live on the Gulf Coast, so any mention of it and I want to see what the author has to say. :-)

  8. I hope the memory returns! Enjoy.

  9. I like the intro (not the cover) though, but would read more. Hope you love it.

  10. The teaser is sad and makes me wonder why goons were trying to kill he/she.. (i'm guessing it's a she from the cover).
My TT is from The Walls Around Us:

  11. Oh, my! I wonder what's going on! I hope you enjoy reading this book, Yvonne. (Is it a cozy?)

  12. She sounds like she's had quite a time of it? It certainly has grabbed my attention! Here is my TT https://cleopatralovesbooks.wordpress.com/2015/01/27/teaser-tuesday-january-27/

  13. Not a fan of the cover, but the teaser sounds good.

  14. I'd have to keep reading! In fact, I'm going to go check this one out. The mystery has drawn me in!

  15. The intro has me curious. I'd keep reading!

  16. The intro doesn't give much information, I'd have to read a bit more before deciding. Have a nice week. kelley—the road goes ever ever on
