Anything Goes on Saturday
Labels:
Anything goes on saturday
I've wanted to start a meme like this for a long time. It's "Anything Goes on Saturday". It's a chance to choose any topic you want and talk about it on Saturday - it can be about a book, TV show, movie, a recipe or just an update on your week. Whatever you choose.
If you'd like to join in, take the button above and blog about it. Use the linky below to post your direct link to your post. Then, go and visit other blogs and see what's on everyone's minds this week. Enjoy!
My topic for today is the dreaded time management. We're 8 days into the new year and already I'm behind on everything. I have a ton of reviews I need to do and a bunch of challenges. Some of the reviews I can use for challenges, too, but I'm not giving myself alot of time for just reading whatever strikes my fancy.
I'd be fine if I didn't have to work, but we all know how that goes. Full time jobs get in the way, but without them, we can't afford to live. What a vicious cycle!
I tried to use a calendar to help me organize things a bit, but that hasn't helped. I already stopped using it. I make lists, but I tend to misplace them.
How do you all juggle your real lives, cyber lives, reading lives and reviewing lives? Is there a secret to all this that I'm missing out on? Probably the big secret is for me to learn to say no a little more often. That might help.
So, what's on your mind today?

Thank you for stopping by and visiting my blog! I always love reading comments and getting to know my readers!
After some careful consideration, I've decided to become an award-free blog. Although I appreciate and am honored by each and every award I've received, your comments and friendship are enough award for me. Thank you all so much for your thoughtfulness.
Due to way too many spam comments, I disabled the Anonymous User comments. We'll see if this works, otherwise I'll have to go back to word verification.

I do use a calender to keep my blog stuff organized - it's even color coded (reviews, author stuff, generic blog stuff etc.). As for managing time with real life- it's tough. My boyfriend is in Vet School so I can get my best blogging time in while he is studying or sleeping. And right after work for a half hour to check on all my favorite blogs. I also make sure I take notes on my books that I'm going to review so the reviews take less time when I write them. Best of luck!
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of a color coded calendar. I love calendars. The problem is I stop using them after a week or so.
ReplyDeleteThe calendar works for me. The secret is to have it in a place where you see it most often. Here's a link to a post I recently wrote on this subject: http://zemeks.blogspot.com/2011/01/gotta-love-calendars-they-are-so-useful.html
ReplyDeleteI just read your post, Karen. Great post. I do have a lot of calendars - I always buy the cat ones, of course. I have wall ones and desk ones. Also, a pocket one. It's just that I sometimes forget to look at them.
ReplyDeleteI just started using a calendar on my computer in the hopes that when I have something scheduled it will automatically pop up and tell me. That might help.
I'm off to a slow start reading this year and it is due to work as well. It is crazy wrapping up the previous year, getting it all filed away and then preparing for the new year. I will listen to an audiobook, if I am working alone.
ReplyDeleteI have a calendar to keep track of tour dates. I try to sit down and write my thoughts on a book before I pick up another one to help me keep current.
I just found your blog from the Over 40 Friday Blog hop! Will be back as I am an avid reader and do some book reviewing as well. Book lovers are kindred spirits!!!!
ReplyDeleteYvonne, this sounds like a fun meme to try on a Saturday! The button is very cute--the sleeping cat curled up is a nice touch. I don't usually post on Saturdays but will try to one of these days.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like fun! I'll have to remember to play along next saturday :)
ReplyDeleteAs far as time management goes, I like to make a list of things to do, then cross them off as I go along. It helps!
