These are a collection of four short Christmas tales from the Walt Longmire series. I’m a huge fan of the TV series Longmire, but I never read the books. In fact, I didn’t even realize the TV show was based on a series of books.
I find it hard to review individual short stories. I’m always afraid my review would give way too much information away and probably be longer than the story itself. So, I will give an overall opinion.
These four stories wet my appetite and I want to read more about Walt, his daughter and the rest of the characters. I so love the Wyoming setting.
Each story went way too quickly and left me eager for additional stories. My one problem was that the short stories didn’t make me think of the Walt character on TV. He seemed different, but that often happens when a character is adapted from a book – whether it’s TV or a movie.
Included was chapter one of the first Walt Longmire book, The Cold Dish. Honestly, I actually found the excerpt better than the short stories. It seemed to me like The Cold Dish is more indicative of the character of Walt that I know from the TV show. I definitely want to get the first book and read the rest of it.
FTC Disclosure: NetGalley provided me with a copy of this book to review. This did not influence my thoughts and opinions in any way. All opinions expressed are my own.
