This is a fun meme to do hosted by Freda's Voice. If you'd like to join on the fun go to The Friday 56.
Rules:
*Grab a book, any book.
*Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader.
*Find any sentence that grabs you.
*Post it.
*Link it here.
It's that simple.
I'm also joining in Book Beginnings on Friday. It's hosted by Rose City Reader.
I'm hoping to read this one soon. It's the 6th book in the Consignment Shop Mystery series. I've loved all the previous books. This one is a novella and I was able to borrow it with Kindle Unlimited.
First Chapter
"One hundred and eighty-three days and fourteen hours without tripping across a dead body and tomorrow I -- Reagan Summerside, former bum-magnet -- am getting married right here in Savannah to the best guy ever," I gushed to Auntie KiKi.
From 56% on my e-reader...
"I don't have time for this. There's a bunch of old farts partying in the back room, and I got to get drinks going and..."
Synopsis from Goodreads:
Wedding cake on top of the table, dead body underneath and a favorite auntie accused of putting it there is no way to start a marriage.
What do you think? What are you sharing today?
Hope you enjoy it! Here is my CWW https://moretoodiscover.blogspot.com/2022/07/book-spotlight-fridays-extraordinary.html
ReplyDeleteThat opening is a classic jinx. Never say something like that at the start of a story. NEVER!
ReplyDeleteI feel like if you can count the days since you're last dead-body-encounter, then you're very likely to have another encounter soon xD This sounds like a really fun read and I hope you find the time to get around to it soon :)

ReplyDeleteNow I am definitely curious! Great cover, too. Here's mine: “THE IT GIRL”
ReplyDeleteSounds like fun! I love a good cozy mystery, and Duffy Brown is a new author to me.
ReplyDeleteStop by and see what I'm reading.
Oh that quote from page 56 made me laugh. That term 'Old fart" was used a lot when I was growing up. Anne's book quotes
ReplyDeleteDid my comment go through?
ReplyDeleteThat sounds good.
ReplyDeleteI have the first book in this series on my shelf and it looks like such fun. Looking forward to reading this one!
