The Weekend Review - July 30th-Aug 1st

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now being hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to  Stacking The Shelves which is hosted by Reading Reality.

Hi Everyone!

It's hard to believe July is over and August is about to begin.  The summer is almost over already?  To say it's flying by would be an understatement.

Anyway, I didn't have the best reading month in July.  I finished 6 books and will probably finish #7 today or tomorrow.  I had so many more books scheduled for July but didn't get to them.  Now to make up my August list.  Although, the July books are still in the mix.

As for what I'm watching, I didn't realize we weren't all caught up on Evil yet so we went back to that and it's good...weird but good.  We also went back to Stranger Things, season 4, also good but weird.  LOL

Our refrigerator broke down so we are waiting for a part to come in.  Fortunately, when we bought this house they had a spare refrigerator in the garage.  We nearly got rid of it because we didn't need two refrigerators, but we didn't and I'm glad we didn't.  We transferred all of our food into the other refrigerator so we didn't lose very much.

That's about it from here.  I hope you all had a great week and have a great upcoming week!

  1. Another interesting looking bunch of titles and book covers (since I don't know the books or authors - not my usual reading material), I can only go by what the covers look like. I like the title Shifting and Shenanigans...

  2. Something is going on with appliances right now! My mother's refrigerator died as well and my washing machine finally made it's last wash. I'm so glad you have the extra fridge. Definitely makes things easier. Enjoy your reading and have a good week!

  4. I had a very low reading week as well! I hope this week is better for us both. Looks like a great book haul. Have a wonderful week!

  5. Most people in the world would be thrilled to have read six books in one month. I think we forget sometimes that the average person in America reads less than one book a year. So you had a fantastic month!

I hope you are able to get your refrigerator repaired quickly. My dad's fridge went out and the repair was more than a new appliance. Sigh.

  6. So hard to believe that July is over. I finished up Stranger Things too, I have mixed feelings about season 4 and I was kind of hoping that was the end but nope one more season.

Have a great week and happy reading!

  9. We've always had a second refrigerator in the garage and it's saved us many times! The place we just bought in CT doesn't have one and the garage doesn't have room for one either. Makes me nervous, lol. Enjoy your books this week!

  10. Thank goodness for the backup refrigerator! And yes stranger Things 4 is dark this season, isn't it?

    Hope you're having a nice weekend. :)

  13. I hope your fridge gets fixed soon. Waiting for parts is so annoying. My car lost a bumper (randomly) and I've been waiting for a part for the last week. Hopefully, tomorrow, it will be fixed.

I hope you enjoy your week. :D

  16. My in-laws have 2 fridges in their kitchen and we always had an extra fridge (and sometimes a stove/oven) in our downstairs utility room when I was growing up (my father now has TWO extra fridges in his garage!) and I always thought that was crazy...until our fridge broke down. And also until I have to make Thanksgiving dinner. THEN I realize the value in an extra fridge. Have a great week! - Melinda @ A Web of Stories

  17. Both your books mentioned look very readable. Ah a fridge breaking down. A spare fridge is indeed helpful. I had that happen to me and got by with a chilly bin and deep freeze to help for about four days!

  18. Sometimes, you need the break from reading. But it does put you behind in your overall reading agenda, doesn't it?

Glad you didn't lose too much with your broken frig. That's a pain, isn't it?

  19. You have a nice collection of cozies. Enjoy! Take care and stay safe...and cool.

    Here are my WEEKLY UPDATES

  20. Nice looking assortment of books. We've always had a second refrigerator since I was a child. It does come in handy. I've decided that, except for review books, I'm not planning ahead on my blog and reading whatever I want from my huge TBR mountain. It is kind of refreshing not to have a schedule. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  21. I'm with you; summer is passing by so quickly.

I stopped watching Evil when it went to Paramount+. Leland was too creepy for me. I've watched some of Stranger Things, but not the most recent season.

Mr. Perfect on Paper sounds fun. The Sound of Murder and Take My Husband also sound good. Hope you enjoy them all.

  23. That's lucky about the refrigerator. We have an extra one in the basement. We don't use it, but it's too heavy to get up the stairs!
