The Weekend Review - February 11th-13th

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now being hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to  Stacking The Shelves which is hosted by Reading Reality.

Hi Everyone!

Happy Super Bowl Sunday!  I'm not a football fan so I probably won't be paying much attention.  Maybe I'll watch the halftime show.  We'll see.

Also, Happy Valentines Day!  Anyone have any special plans?  We'll probably just go out for dinner.  That's about it.

I'm finally feeling better after having a cold and sore throat for the last three weeks.  It was weird how it wanted to linger.  I, also, avoided having to go to the doctor.  So, that's a good thing.

I finished two books this week.  I almost finished a third, but not quite.

As for what I watched, I'm still binging Criminal Minds (after all, there are 16 seasons).  I'm up to the end of season 10, but I also finished watching season 16.  16 is the new reboot airing on Paramount+.  So, we skipped ahead and watched that one.  Another show I've been binging is Fire Country.  Anyone else watch it?  It's a new show and I'm already addicted to it.

Anything exciting going on in your part of the world?  Read or watch anything new?  Hope you all have a great week!

  1. I'm not big on the Super Bowl anymore. I've kind of gone off football over the last 15-20 years, for a number of reasons, not least of which is the health dangers.

We'll celebrate Valentine's Day very quietly. My wonderful husband already brought me roses.

  2. Glad you u are finally over your cold. It's frustrating when something like that lingers, isn't it?

  3. As a non-American I'm not really into American Footbal but I am kind of intrigued by this year's halftime show as well because I love so many of Rihanna's songs. I also really enjoyed last years, mainly because I love Shakira xD 'Bakeries and Buffoonery' is a great title. I hope you enjoy all your new books as well and that you have a great week :)

  4. I'm glad your cold is gone. Most people seem to be suffering with colds for long periods of time this winter. I don't know why.

I won't be watching the Super Bowl. I honestly don't know who is playing!

  6. I'm glad you're feeling better! I don't have plans for the Super Bowl or Valentine's. I'll probably just eat snacks and candy. :)

  9. Happy Valentine's Day! We enjoyed our somewhat nontraditional Thanksgiving and Christmas feasts so much that I froze a couple of turkey legs so that we could repeat it for Valentine's Day. I'm looking forward to it!

  10. Glad you're feeling better. I was a bit sick this week, still coughing a little. I'll be rooting for my Chiefs tonight in the Super Bowl! I always love the titles of those cozies and wish I liked reading them! No Valentine's plans for me either. If the Chiefs don't win, then I'll probably be going to bed early on Valentine's Day to prepare for the next two long days of parent conferences we will have!

  12. Glad to hear you are feeling better this week and didn't have to go to the doctor. We will probably watch the Super Bowl, or some of it. As far as Valentine's Day, nothing special planned. The three books you are choosing from to read next all look good. Have a good week!

  13. I'm glad you are feeling better! Are you sure you didn't have Covid? That's a long time for a sore throat to last. Enjoy your new books. Have a great week!

  17. I am guessing quite a few in the USA will be watching the super bowl and as you say at least the half time show. Good you are feeling better.

  18. I'm glad to hear that you are feeling better. Colds have such a nasty tendency to linger on! We probably won't do much, if anything, on Valentine's Day. My daughter's birthday is the day before and we usually don't feel like we need to celebrate anything after that. Have a great week! - Melinda @ A Web of Stories

  19. Glad to hear you are feeling better. The Super Bowl was a great game, especially the ending. I don't usually watch football, but I catch the Super Bowl when I can.

Your books sound great. Still looking at Charming Bookshop Mysteries. Your Kindle haul caught my eye as well. Hope you enjoy them.

  21. I watched the Super Bowl and halftime show with the sound on my TV off. One look at the platforms where the singer was performing made me dizzy. I couldn't imagine singing while being that high off the ground. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  22. I am glad you are feeling better, Yvonne. We had a mostly quiet weekend, with the exception of a cookie booth on Saturday. It was very windy out and now my allergies are playing havoc with me again. I hope you have a great week and enjoy your reading!

  24. Happy Valentines Day. My partner is cooking up a seafood feast while I am writing this. I too am struggling whatever virus hell is going around. It's wormed it's way into my eustachian tubes so I am not happy. I'm still able to read so I guess it could be worse.
    Happy reading this week.
