The Weekend Review - May 18th-20th

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now being hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme with a new host!  It's now being hosted by Kathryn at Book Date. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I'm also linking to Stacking the Shelves which is hosted by Reading Reality.

Hi Everyone!

So here we are in the middle of May and we are under a heat advisory in Florida.  We have temps around 92 and the "feels like" number is 103.  It really feels like an oven out there.  Of course I'm not walking in it.  I'm spending my time blogging, reading and watching my TV shows inside with the a/c which is working nicely :)

My husband and I celebrated our 37th wedding anniversary yesterday.  We went to a show at a local theater.  It was really good.

I only finished one book this week and it was a good one.  I've been watching my TV shows wrap up their seasons.  Young Sheldon ended their show and it was very emotional.  After next week, anything I watch on TV will be baseball and the new Criminal Minds.  So, hopefully, more reading time for me.  If the temps stay this high, that's what I'll be doing.

So, how has your week been?  I hope everyone has a great upcoming week.

These are the books I still have scheduled to read in May.  I doubt I'll finish them all, but you never know.

Here is this week's Kindle freebie haul. They were freebies when I got them, I don't know if they still are. Always make sure to check they are still free before buying. The prices change quickly.

  3. Happy Anniversary! It's been cooler than normal here in Central Maryland for the past several days and I'm definitely not complaining. I'm sure the heat will come our way soon. Summer is my least favorite season. Stay cool and have a great week! :)

I feel like I have a lot of books to read before the end of May too. I am determined not to overcommit myself for the next few months!

    Have a great week!

  5. Happy anniversary!

You can send some of your excess heat my way. We've been colder than normal, and I miss the warmer weather.

  6. Happy anniversary! Wow that's hot. Were in the 80's today and I thought that was bad!

  7. It's been warm here, too, but we've also had a couple of bad storms roll though that caused flooding north of us. Worrisome. It's not even hurricane season yet.

    Happy anniversary! Stay cool!

  8. Happy Anniversary! Sounds like a hot week! It has been sunny here and I have been very unhappy about the fact that it seems to have brought out a heat rash. It's not even that hot! We keep saying about AC but we haven't taken the plunge with it. Every year I say to my partner that it isn't hot for long enough. That statement is becoming less true!

Have a great week next week!

Looks like a good week. I wish that I could draw. I haven't done it in years.

Have a great week next week!

  9. I think that my phone merged a couple of comments so I apologise if that has happened! I am trying to fix it now!

    Have a lovely weekend!

  10. Happy Anniversary, Yvonne. Oh my goodness! That is insanely hot so early in the year. I hope it cools down to something acceptably soon.

  12. Happy anniversary! I hope you had a great one. So sorry about the heat though. :( It's so bad where I live as well -- a few weeks ago, our heat index went up to 50 Celsius (around 120 Farenheight) which is CRAZY. It's been starting to cool down a tad though, but still not cool enough. Let's both stay cool!

  16. It been flucating between high 90’s to back to low 70’s here in washington state but at least it sunny. I have been watching more of pretty little liars, friends. Watching young sheldon stretching it out i don’t want it to end. Since bridgerton dropped i trying not to watch all 4 at once. I finished mind games this week it was very good and a bit emotional in spots. Have a great reading week.

  17. Happy anniversary! I can't believe it is already that hot, but we are now seeing the 80 in Ohio, so I guess it makes sense. Have a great week!

  18. Ooof! That weather sounds awful to me. Though in the UK we don't really have air conditioning, so that makes it awful inside as well, even at lower temperatures. XD

Good luck with finishing your books in May -- or at least, as many of them as you feel like.

  19. I really enjoyed Mind Games! Our weather will really heat up at the end of the week, so I have to get any yard work done the next couple days.

  21. Happy anniversary! Such hot temperatures. It's 54 and cloudy as I'm writing this. I could use a little more heat and sun. I console myself by remembering that it is good reading weather. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  23. Happy anniversary!!! It's hot here today. Almost 80, which is unusual for us. Your book haul and what you have left to read for May look good. Love the black cat images on some of these. Hope you enjoy your week.

  24. I'm staying inside mostly here too. It is hot though not as hot as the temps you're dealing with. I'm just trying to avoid mosquitos and the screaming cicadas! Happy anniversary and I hope you're having a great week!
