Book Blogger Hop - October 15th - 18th

I never did this one before, but it looks like fun...It's hosted by Crazy-for-Books.
This week's question comes from Christina who blogs at The Paperback Princesses.
"When you read a book that you just can't get into, do you stick it out and keep reading or move to your next title?"
My answer...
I used to stick with everything I started reading. I never left a book unfinished no matter how much I disliked it. These days, I don't do that. I'll stop at around 50 or so pages, but I might try coming back to it at a later time. I've done that a few times and I found I enjoyed the book the next time I tried. Perhaps it was the mood I was in when I first tried to read it.
It's a bit harder when it's a review book. I feel like I really need to complete those since they were sent for a purpose, but I might not review it as quickly as I normally would.

Thank you for stopping by and visiting my blog! I always love reading comments and getting to know my readers!
After some careful consideration, I've decided to become an award-free blog. Although I appreciate and am honored by each and every award I've received, your comments and friendship are enough award for me. Thank you all so much for your thoughtfulness.
Due to way too many spam comments, I disabled the Anonymous User comments. We'll see if this works, otherwise I'll have to go back to word verification.

I used to finish every book I started, and usually still do, but once in a while I do not.
ReplyDeleteHave fun hopping! I love the Hop, and will participate unofficially. :)
Thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteI HAVE to finish a book. It bugs me if I don't. I'm left wondering, "What would have happened?" Lol
Have a great weekend!
Thinking I should change my policy to 50 pages...that seems to be the number, especially when my review tbr stares at me.

We don't stick with books we don't like. Generally, I'll give it to page 100 but with "The Choice" by Nicholas Sparks, I stuck with it even though it felt I was plowing through and I'm glad I did because it really picked up in the end.
ReplyDeleteGerard gives up on those he finds disappointing such as "Huck" which he ended up skimming through part way and "Chose To See."
Thanks for stopping by! I used to feel like I was cheating if I didn't finish. When I was young I thought I was hurting the book's feelings if I didn't finish LOL. But now time is precious so I give it one or two chances. I realized through the hop today, that mood might have something to do with it so I might need to give a few another chance. But generally, I try to finish and if I didn't finish it, I obviously don't review it.

ReplyDeleteI also scrap a book after 50 or so pages.
Have a great rest of the weekend!
I do try to finish it, but if I can't I'll try to save it for a later read.

I leave books alone for a while too, if I'm not into them, because I know it might just be my mood :)
