Review: Second Chance Summer by Jill Shalvis

Genre:
Romance

Format:
E-Book

Publisher:
Grand Central Publishing

Release Date:
June 2015

After losing her job, Lily Danville has no choice but to accept a job in her hometown of Cedar Ridge, Colorado. She left the small town many years ago after tragedy struck her family. Not only does she wish she didn’t have to go back and relive her heartache, but she also doesn’t want to see her old flame, Aidan Kincaid. It’s hard to avoid the hot fire fighter, though, since he’s everywhere. Not to mention that the Kincaid family owns the main resort in town.

Aidan Kincaid can’t believe his eyes when he sees Lily. She’s as beautiful as he remembers and his feelings for her are stronger than ever. Despite the ribbing he’s getting from his brothers, Aidan is determined to win back the love of his life. He doesn’t care how much she fights him off. Somehow, he will convince her to give their relationship another try.

I was so excited to see a brand new series by one of my favorite authors – Jill Shalvis. She did not disappoint with this one. It has everything I love in these type of series – a huge family, romance, drama and adventure. There’s even a little mystery that looks to be interwoven throughout this series.

I fell in love with Lily and Aidan, especially Aidan – their romance is both sweet and passionate. They practically sizzle on each page. Their chemistry is apparent from the start. There were a couple of times I wanted to shake Lily, but overall I really liked her.

I, also, adored the secondary characters especially Aidan’s brothers. I cannot wait to read their stories, which I’m sure we will. This is only the first story about the Kincaids, but it has the makings to be an unforgettable series.

  3. I've yet to try Shalvis though I was eyeing this book on someone else's blog. What is your opinion of the "physical heat/lust level" in this book? I like romances sometimes, but not if there are pages and pages of explicit sexual scenes. Just my preference these days :)

    1. This one does NOT have explicit sexual scenes. I would say it's closer to sweet, but a little more than that. Definitely not too explicit, though.

    2. Of course everyone has their own levels, but that's how I felt about it.

    3. Thanks for a quick answer! Hard to tell nowadays what with all the covers of shirtless guys flexing their muscles :) I will be on the lookout for this one, Yvonne.
