Guidelines:

1) The goal is to get caught up on the Lynn Viehl's Darkyn Series, so create a list of the books you haven't read yet. You have between now and December 31, 2010. Don't include books you've read prior to or started before 8/3/09.

2) This reading challenge is for participants with a blog. If you decide to participate in the 2009/2010 Lynn Viehl's Darkyn Series, create a post on your blog telling others about this event. In your post, be sure to include the link to this post on your blog. That way others can find their way here and join in the fun.

3) If you want to have your reading list on your blog's right sidebar, then please include a link to this post.

4) Audio and eBooks count.

5) You can join anytime between now and the later part of next year.

7) Books to be published after signing up do not have to be listed. This is optional.

8) There will be a place for you to link your reviews, but this is optional.

9) When you have completed your number of the Stephanie Plum books, link your completed list to the completed page. One will be set up.

10)If you have any questions, feel free to ask below or email me at jkayeoldner@yahoo.com. Comments usually get a quicker response.

I haven't read any of them, so I'll be starting at the beginning.

James Patterson Reading Challenge

Since I love James Patterson's books so much - even books other than the Women's Murder Club series - I decided to host one more challenge. This is for anything written by James Patterson. I don't know about the rest of you, but I have quite a few of his books in my TBR.

Here are the guidelines...

1. The challenge is to read at least 10 James Patterson books in a year. You do not need to make a list of what you will read now or, if you want, you can. However, nothing is written in stone and the books you list can be changed at any time. Overlapping books with other challenges is allowed.

2. As long as it's written by James Patterson, you can use the book in this challenge. Even if you are part of my Women's Murder Club challenge, you can overlap books and count them as part of this challenge.

3. All books need to be read between August 15, 2009 and August 15, 2010. Books read prior to August 15th don't count for this challenge.

4. If you want to participate, just post about it on your blog with a link back to here.

3. Audio and Ebooks are acceptable.

4. Please use Mr. Linky below to sign up. Use the link to your post about this challenge, not your main blog address. Links that don't go directly to your challenge post will be deleted.

5. Once you complete the challenge, please post the link to your wrap-up blog post with Mr. Linky (I will put up a Mr. Linky for completed lists.)

6. There will also be a Mr. Linky for reviews, although posting your reviews are not a requirement.

7. You can take the button above and post it on your blog.

I haven't picked all my books yet, but here's a partial list...

How in the world could I possibly resist a cat sleuth reading challenge? Cats, mysteries... two of my favorite things. Here's the info...

Rules & Sign-ups

1. Challenge runs from July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2010. Join anytime, as long as you can read the required books.

2. Read 12 Cat Sleuth books from at least 4 different authors. A list would be nice but not necessary and is not written in stone (or even pen).

3. Overlaps with other challenges are purrfectly acceptable.

4. Blog about the challenge (with a link back to this post) then sign up. When you sign up, link to your challenge post, not your blog, unless we can easily find the link on your site.

5. You do not need your own blog to join the challenge, you can do all your challenge related posts here. Just email me (book dragons lair at gmail dot com) after you've signed-up and I'll add you to the blog. In fact, everybody can do their challenge related posts here.

6. You do not need to review your books but it would be nice. You could just post what book you read and a bit about it so we could see if we'd like to read it.

7. Come back often to report on your progress or just in June to leave a link with your wrap up post. I hope to have prizes but I'm undecided on the "rules" for receiving them, any ideas? To sign up, go to Cat Sleuth Challenge Blog

Sookie Stackhouse Reading Challenge

I wasn't going to do anymore challenges, but I read the first book in this series a few months ago and really enjoyed the True Blood series (I no longer get HBO so I can't watch the second season until it comes out in DVD - sob!) Anyway, here's what this challenge is about...

Welcome to the Sookie Stackhouse Reading Challenge!

2. Sign up using Mr. Linky. Put your name in the top box. For the bottom box, please use the URL that links specifically to your blog post about this challenge, not to your blog's home page.

3. After July 4, I'll create a post with another Mr. Linky where you can link your reviews so everyone can read them track your progress.

4. If you don't have a blog and want to join in, sign up in the comments here. Later, let us know about your progress by leaving comments on the review link page.

Read Your Own Book Challenge

Yes, another challenge and defnitely the last one I'll be joining - yeah right! LOL Anyway, this one will also help with my TBR mountain. If you'd like to join, click the button above. Here's the details...

The rules for this challenge are very simple…

* set a goal for how many of your OWN books you’d like to read in 2009

* read from your own collection between January 1st and December 31st, 2009

And, that’s basically it! You don’t have to create a list beforehand (’cause we all know that our reading preferences change as the year progresses), and you can even read books that come into your possession (that will be yours to keep) during the year!

Some other helpful hints…

- you CAN overlap with other challenges

- eBooks and Audiobooks count AS LONG AS they are from your own collection

My goal is going to be 20 books, although I can do more...I don't want to stress out about this. I'll be posting as I go along...

Just what I need...another challenge, but this looks like fun. If you'd like to join, click the button above. Here's the info...

General reminder of what you're signing up for:

Mysteryreadercafe Reading Challenge 2009

Good luck to all!

If you're interested in joining in, click the button above.

Here are my choices, although I might change my mind later in the year...

1. Murder of a Chocolate Covered Cherry by Denise Swanson Click here for review (title with the word "murder" in it)
2. Latte Trouble by Cleo Coyle Click for review (mystery set in my region)
3. The Diva Runs Out of Thyme by Krista Davis Click for review(book in my TBR for over a year)
4. The Cat, The Quilt and The Corpse by Leann Sweeney (new to me author) Click for review

The Themed Reading Challenge

Okay, one more readinng challenge for 2009. Caribousmom is hosting this one. To join, click the button above.

Here's what this one is about...

February 1, 2009 - July 31, 2009

The Themed Reading Challenge is a six month challenge designed to help readers clear books from their to-be-read stacks which center around a common theme or themes. Here are the “rules”:

1. Books should be chosen from the reader’s TBR pile (this may be an actual physical pile or a
virtual pile).

2. The goal is to read 4 to 6 books linked by theme.
3. Overlaps with other challenges are allowed.
4. Readers may change their list of books at any time.
5. Readers may choose three different levels of participation:
Read at least 4 books with the same theme.
Read at least 5 books that share at least TWO themes.
Read at least 6 books that share MORE than two themes.

Themes can be geographic, genre, author, subject matter, or anything in between! Last year’s themes were wonderfully creative and varied and included such things as: books about books, books set in New England, books with a color in the title, books about vampires, books with the word ‘lady’ in the title, Gothic classics, fairy tales retold for adults, highschool classics, Asian culture, feathered friends, WWII, Canada, books in translation, and Beverly Cleary. There were many others I have not listed here!

The only thing limiting your choices is your imagination - so have fun!

Sign-ups for this challenge will close on March 30th.

My theme is going to be cozy mysteries and I'm going to do the second level.

1. Dirty Deeds by Suzanne Price Click for review
2. Back To School Murder by Leslie Meier Click here for review
3. Murder of a Real Bad Boy by Denise Swanson Click here for review
4. Murder of a Botoxed Blonde by Denise Swanson Click here for review
5. Murder of a Chocolate Covered Cherry by Denise Swanson Click here for review

TBR Challenge Lite

Yet another challenge I'm signing up for. Just click the button above to join in.

For those who love the original TBR Challenge, but need a little less “pressure” on their reading, the TBR Challenge *LITE* offers you that option!

You have your choice of ONE of the 3 options:

OPTION A: read 6 books in 12 months ~ your list of books CANNOT be changed, but you are allowed to have an “Alternates” list to choose from (like in the Original TBR Challenge).

OPTION B: read 6 books in 12 months ~ you CAN change your reading list throughout the year

OPTION C: make up a list of however many books you think you could get read in 12 months, as long as they are from your TBR stack/list, and then read them between January 1st and December 31st. You must have at least 3 books on your list.

Some Other General Guidelines:
- You are allowed to overlap with other challenges
- Audiobooks are allowed
- e-Books are allowed, but must still be books that you’ve wanted to read for at least 3, or more, months
- You should still have a list of books posted somewhere for others to see
- You don’t have to read your books in the order you put them on your list

Okay, I'm all set with my list...I'm going to be brave and go with Option A and have 6 books and not change them (although I'm including an alternate 6 list).

1. Naughty Neighbor by Janet Evanovich Click for review
2. Bedlam, Bath and Beyond by J.D. Warren
3. The Suicide Club by Gayle Wilson
4. Lifelines by C.J. Lyons
5. The Perfect Family by Carla Cassidy
6. Her Sexiest Mistake by Jill Shalvis

Alternates...

1. Dirty Deeds by Suzanne Price Click for review
2. Broken Pieces by Carla Cassidy
3. Personal Assets by Emma Holly
4. Hot Flash Holidays by Nancy Thayer
5. The Hot Flash Club Strikes Again by Nancy Thayer
6. The Hot Flash Club Chills Out by Nancy Thayer

Series Challenge Season 3

I guess I'm officially addicted to reading challenges. I'm signing up with another one. Here's the info:

Series Challenge Season 3

So, I haven't blogged in months, I'm afraid. Sorry about that, but life kept me busy until about two weeks ago.

Anyways, I will be hosting the 3rd season of the Series Challenge. The past two challenges, I never managed to finish all the series I had planned to read, so I hope I'll have more luck this time around.

I still have many, many series to read, so it'll be a tough decision I won't make tonight. This time around, the challenge will take an entire year to give everyone a better chance to finish up the series and to make it easier to keep track of when the challenge starts and ends.

The challenge starts December 1st, 2008 and goes until November 30th, 2009.

The rules are easy:

1) Pick a couple series you already started and now want to finish (meaning, you'll be all up to date with the series when it ends).

2) Read at least 4 books, more are also okay, of course!

3) Post your review of the books on your blog or in the comment section, no matter how long. If you post the review on your blog, please post a link to the review in the comment section so that everyone else can check out your review.

4) Have fun!
