Booking Through Thursday

Tami inspired this week’s question:

What book do you think should be made into a movie? And do you have any suggestions for the producers?

Or, What book do you think should NEVER be made into a movie?

This one is easy for me...I always thought the Stephanie Plum books by Janet Evanovich would be a great movie. I don't know about producers but I always pictures Sandra Bullock or Julia Roberts in the role. I know at one time they talked about making this into a movie, but I don't think it ever happened.

One book I recently read and saw the movie for was P.S. I Love You by Cecelia Ahern. I thought the book was much better than the movie.

Can't wait to read everyone else's answers. This is a fun question.

  5. I'm putting PS I love You on my list. I agree with those who like to read the book first, before seeing the movie!

  6. I might like Stephanie Plum as a movie better than I like the books! Good choice.

  7. I haven't read the Evanovich books, but from what I know of them I'd probably like movies made from them. Good answer. :)

  9. Plum movies would be riot. Who should play Grandma Mazur? Mo'nique would be great as Lula.

I'd like to see Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet made into a movie. Fabulous book.

  12. Yes, the Plum books would be great on the big screen (or Lifetime, lol). I think those actresses may be a bit too old now. I'm trying to think of someone younger - not coming up with anything yet.

  13. I saw P.S. I Love You and loved it. I'll have to read the book. Most books are better than the movies. You should check out the "Secret Life of Bee's". I saw the movie and now I'm going to read the book.

  14. The Stephanie Plum series is on my TBR list. I'm glad they are "movie worthy" because that means they're good books! :)

  16. Hi Yvonne!

I said the Stephanie Plum books too! They'd be hilarious as movies, although the cameras might explode from Ranger's sexiness. If you want to see the rest of my post, it's here: http://yourlibrarycard.blogspot.com/2009/03/at-movies-with-books-this-weeks-btt.html

  17. We've had many discussions about a movie from the Evanovich books. I said the same thing about Stephanie with Sandra Bullock, Sheri Shepherd (from The View) as Lula, Estelle Getty (her character Sofia from The Golden Girls) was always the person I pictured as Grandma. She passed away not too long ago and was very sick before that but I still have her in my mind. The rest were harder. Mark Consuelos (Kelly Ripas) husband maybe for Morelli? I would love to see a movie, it would be such a riot but Janet said they have never been able to complete negotiations. Bummer.

  18. I've seen the film PS I love you - but not read the book. My daughter has and she agrees that the book is better ;0)

  19. Wrighty - I feel the same way about Estelle Getty and I still picture her in the role whenever I read the books. You're right that the other roles are harder to fill... Mark Conseulos is a definite possibility.

  20. I don't know how they would do it(because of a certain pachyderm character), but as soon as I finished reading, Water For Elephants" I thought it would make a GREAT movie!
One book I am worried about that is being turned into a movie, is "The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency"...I think it'll loose something, but we'll see. it ight turn out better than expected.
