Four years ago Skye Kellerman was attacked in her home by Dr. Oliver Burke. Although her testimony sent him to jail for a long time, the trauma changed her life forever. Along with two friends, she started an organization called The Last Stand. An organization to help fellow crime victims.
Then, Skye learns that Burke is being released from jail early and she fears he is going to come after her seeking revenge. After all, she’s the one who sent him to prison. Detective David Willis is more than ready to protect Skye at all costs. Skye and David fell in love during the original investigation, but things didn’t work out. However, the attraction never died and is stronger than ever.
When Skye starts receiving threats, she knows Burke is behind them. David is determined to prove Burke’s guilt, but can Burke outfox them all?
This is the first book of Brenda Novak’s trilogy and it makes for an exciting, edge-of-your-seat type of story. Readers will feel as if they are experiencing Skye’s fears themselves. I loved reading this book and look forward to the next two books in the series.
