Teaser Tuesdays/First Chapter Tuesday - September 3rd

Every Tuesday Diane at Bibliophile By the Sea hosts First Chapter First Paragraph Tuesday Intros, where we share the first paragraph or (a few) of a book we are reading or thinking about reading soon. Care to join us?

If you'd like to play along on Teaser Tuesdays, just click the button above.

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

* Grab your current read
* Open to a random page
* Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This week I'm reading...

From the e-book version...

As a metaphor for my life, the crossroads rocked. I sat in my rented Chevy, glaring at the GPS screen, then got out of the vehicle and looked around. One one side of me was an evergreen forest, into which one road descended, and the other was a rocky prominence, the highway cutting through it like a kebab skewer through shish.

I was not reflecting on my metaphorical lostness, however, but my literal situation. The GPS told me I was in front of a Denny's on I-90 as it cut through upstate New York. Looking around at the gloomy walls of evergreen and granite, I reflected that a Denny's breakfast would be welcome right about then, but no shiny, happy hostess came melting out of the woods with a coffeepot and a smile.

  1. You can't always rely on GPS. That's why it's best to check out where you're going first before heading out.

Btw, I like the cover. It looks like a cozy read.

  2. Happy reading looks like a nice cosy mystery

  3. I like the cozy intro and would read some more. Fun title as well. Thanks for joining us Yvonne and thank you for joining us this week.

  4. Nice pick, Yvonne. I love to discover new cozy series and this one sounds like it's got a plucky heroine with a sense of humor, so I'd keep reading.

I just bought the first in another new series. It's called Do or Diner by Christine Wenger, and it's the first in A Comfort Food Mystery series. Looking forward to starting it soon.

    Here's my Tuesday post:

  5. I've had a GPS situation like that! Enjoy the read.

  6. I hate that lost feeling...Yes, I would keep reading. I like the cover of this one, too.

  7. I hope the journey goes well. And I just love this book cover.

  8. Great teaser, Yvonne! I haven't decided yet whether to try this new series. I did pick up a couple other firsts in new series for this month. My teaser: Life of Pi

  9. The cover is interesting and this book does have a good beginning. I got a bit hungry for breakfast myself as I read this excerpt. Check out my TT here:
