Sunday Salon - My Travels through My TBR Room

This weekend I decided to do a bit of reorganizing my TBR room. The books are stacked in such a haphazard way, I was afraid they would all come tumbling down. Especially scary considering this is the room Socrates likes to hide in when we get thunder, lightening and fireworks...all of which we had this week. He escaped unharmed, but I've been meaning to reorganize anyway and figured I'd give it a try.

I packed away 2 huge Rubbermaid type of bins. Through my travels through my TBR, I discovered a few things...

Seeing all the Harlequin Presents together in one place - 90% of them have the words "billionaire" or "millionaire" in the title. Most of the titles all sound alike. No great shock, but I never really paid attention before. LOL Now, I ask you, how many billionaires or millionaires have you met in real life? For me...it's none :)

I also found I had some duplicates! Yikes! How did that happen? I'm so meticulous with all my lists, but I guess I wasn't meticulous enough. Oh well...some will go on Paperback Swap...others will be used for a future book giveaway :)

After reading Confessions of a Shopaholic, I've been in a chick lit mood - I discovered I have a ton of chick lit books in my TBR. Each one looks better than the other. They are the perfect summer reads too! I really should never set foot in another bookstore again, but we all know promises like those are never kept :)

Since I have no more bins to store books in, I should concentrate on reading. I'll get more bins when they go on sale again.

I just started reading Deadly Exchange by Geoffrey M. Gluckman. This is a spy/ thriller type and I'm doing it for a review. So far, so good.

On Monday, my Blog Tour for Synarchy: The Awakening by DCS begins. I will post a review of it on Monday. Interesting book.

My book giveaway for "The Night Gardener" by George Pelecanos is still going on. It ends on Friday, the 19th. So you still have a chance to enter. Just click on the cover in the sidebar.

I hope you all have a great week!

  1. Can you believe it? I own 400+ Mills and Boons? All seem to have similar cover. I must have been mad! However somehow I can't part with those even now!

    Insane me!

TSS: Lets talk about books and related suff

  2. I think all romance novels have very similar titles. I read something to this effect once - if it has "duke" or "prince" or "marriage" or, apparently, "millionaire" in the title women are more likely to buy it. I think it's pretty funny.

  3. How funny. Sometimes when our family goes out book shopping (at library sales or half-priced books) we end up getting repeats, forgetting we'd already bought certain books. Ah well.

  4. You have a TBR Room?? LOL I thought I was bad with my stacks, but an entire room?? You've probably got some really great books in there! Enjoy re-discovering them!

  5. Sorry I am going to have to repeat what everyone else said. You have a TBR room! I am so jealous. I just have book shelves. I will have to wait until my children leave home for one and bearing in mind they are only nine I have a really long wait!

  7. Gautami tripathy - The Mills & Boons stack up so quickly, don't they? I didn't even realize how many I had, but yes - the covers, as well as the titles, are similar.

Meghan - It is funny. It's just so noticeable when you are putting them altogether in one box and the similarities are staring you in the face. LOL

JoAnn, Lisa, Scrap girl - Honestly, it's not so great to have a TBR room. It literally takes up the entire room and I can't even walk in there. The only ones who can get in are the cats. LOL Plus, I can't find anything!

Amanda - I guess there are worse things than getting duplicates. I'm sure it will continue to happen to me :)

Blodeuedd - It's your fault I'm in a chick lit mood - your post about the Shopaholic series made me read Confessions. LOL Unfortunately, I'm in the mood for chick lit, but I have a couple of review books that have to come first and they aren't chick lit. Although, they are good so far.

Thank you for stopping by and visiting my blog! I always love reading comments and getting to know my readers!

After some careful consideration, I've decided to become an award-free blog. Although I appreciate and am honored by each and every award I've received, your comments and friendship are enough award for me. Thank you all so much for your thoughtfulness.
