The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.
If you'd like to participate with The Sunday Salon, it is now a Facebook group.
It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is a meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey. This is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!
I'm also linking to Stacking The Shelves which is hosted by Team Tynga's Reviews.
Happy Sunday and Monday!
Another week begins and another busy blog week ends for me. I'm participating in the Midsummer's Eve Giveaway Hop. I'm giving away four cozy mysteries. Just click on the button in my sidebar to enter.
One thing I'm changing this week...I'm not going to be putting the collage of my upcoming reads up anymore. It's very pretty but it's also very overwhelming to see all those books that need "to be read". Very few of them seem to move to the "read" list. Instead, as the months go along, more books get added because of scheduled blog tours. So, I will just put up the next book that I will be reading. I'm going to be keeping a handwritten list next to my computer of the next books I have to read and will cross them off as I get them done. Hopefully none of them will fall through the cracks that way...maybe :)
Eventually, everything will get read. It's just that blog tours end up getting priority and, of course, there are author/publisher/publicist requests and NetGalley/Edelweiss. I've gotten very good at limiting what I accept, but that doesn't mean what I already have goes away. I need to read those and I really really really need to read books just because I want to. If it wasn't for Lori's Just for Fun Reading Challenge, I wouldn't even be reading one a month. I want to do more than that since my TBR is humongous. Besides, there are some books there that I truly do want to read. It's my own fault I got into this mess, but it's time for me to get myself out of it. LOL
Onto other things...I saw the movie The Book Thief and I thought it was really good. I read the book a few years back and thought it was excellent. The book was just as good, which rarely happens.
A couple of TV shows that I've been looking forward to start this week... the final season of True Blood, The Last Ship (a new thriller on TNT), Under the Dome, Covert Affairs and Falling Skies. I'm probably leaving some out. It's nice to have Rizzoli & Isles, Rookie Blue and Royal Pains back. I seem to have just has many TV shows to watch in the summer as I do in the fall. They look good though.
I hope you are all enjoying your summer and reading great books! Have a great week!
Yvonne

What was your week like? What are you reading this week?
Yay Covert will be back
ReplyDeleteI missed that show. I hope Annie and Auggie get back together.
DeleteI admire your strategy for taking charge of your reading lists and deadlines. It's true that the lists grow in a way that makes me feel like I'm never making any progress.
ReplyDeleteMy Sunday/Monday post: http://www.bookclublibrarian.com/2014/06/weekly-book-recap-72.html
I don't know if I'll be successful, but I have to try.
DeleteI love Rizzoli & Isles...I always plan to read the books.
ReplyDeleteI like your idea of just keeping a list. I do that anyway, and I like a handwritten list, as I can add or delete as needed.
Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting my blog.
I've been planning to read the Rizzoli & Isles books forever, but haven't had a chance. I love Tess Gerritsen's books. I've read a few of hers that aren't part of the series.
DeleteI am looking forward to many of the same shows. I was wondering how they were going to handle Frost's absence on Rizzoli and Iles.
ReplyDeleteI think this week is going to be a real tearjerker on Rizzoli & Isles.
DeleteI'm interested in the Victoria Hamilton book. I have a few of hers but keep putting them off. Those TBR lists can be exhausting to look at so I completely understand. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI read the first book in this particular series of Victoria's and loved it. I'm looking forward to this one. I also have other ones by her in my TBR from other series.
DeleteI'm trying to whittle down my TBR piles too. I have a for-fun pile and a review pile and both are too big. We can cheer each other on.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad Rizzoli and Isles is back and even more glad they are finally acknowledging Frost's absence. I'm looking forward to The Ship and hope it lives up to its promise.
Now, go read for fun and enjoy!
Yes, we can cheer each other on. This is supposed to be fun and we will make it fun :)
DeleteThe Ship looks so good...but it's probably because I always liked McSteamy from Grey's Anatomy. Yes, it was way past time for them to acknowledge Frost's absence but I can see why they couldn't do it right away. It takes time to write the scripts and work it into the show.
I know what you mean - saying no is so hard especially when they are books you so want to read.
ReplyDeleteHa - I love the title Muffin for Murder. Hope you like it. Ah, I gave up on Under the Dome after the 7th episode. I couldn't take the horrible acting.
ReplyDeleteThe main character is Muffin for Murder is Merry Muffin. LOL
DeleteI hear ya on the collage thing, I noticed too that every week I had the same books listed as coming soon, except there were more every week. LOL. So yeah...
ReplyDeleteMuffin but Murder looks fun. :)
LOL...it's so true. It just seems like I was adding more to the list than getting anything accomplished.
DeleteI keep a spreadsheet of my review books which is sorted by release date. It is the only way I can keep myself organized. I also have a paper calendar for each of my blogs that I use to schedule when I want to post reviews, teasers, etc. Come see my busy week here. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea!
DeleteOrganization is the key word to remain (or appear to remain) the mistress of the to-read list ! It would be interesting to have posts where bloggers describe their methods. Have a great week ;)
ReplyDeleteOoohhh...I like that idea for a post. It's true, it does seem to be all about organization.
DeleteLol muffin for Murder, I prefer my muffins without the murders thank you very much :3 Is the book as funny as the title?
ReplyDeleteI went to see the movie first...I forgot there was a book too. So just a few weeks back I went to the shop and got the book.
My Sunday ;)
I've only read the first couple of chapters so I don't know if it will be very funny but it's good so far :)
DeleteThank you for sharing all of this book news! I am reading The Shamrock Case now!
